Hey, an interesting idea sprung into my mind with my recent game of smac. Quite an interesting method to get extracting energy from other landmasses without having to use ships. They aren't too expensive either (60 without armour), and if a threat comes along, they can shift quickly...Anyone else had any experience with these?

Yea I've used them before in SP mostly on huge maps, but usually by the time you get the tech you've already won the game, or are in total control, so its sorta overkill. As for MP I'm not sure if games ever get that far.
