Strange SMAC Bug
Recently came back to playing SMAC after a long time away, and I had a very strange thing happen, I haven't seen any conversation on this.
I am playing Morgan, and Spartans declared Vendetta on me and came towards me with a few Infantry, Rovers, and Probes. We're still early in the game here. No air yet. Anyawy, I got the first air and sent it out to pick off these Spartans so I could hopefully keep building (I'm a builder by nature). Then a strange thing happened - the Spartans started killing each other. I didn't take them over, or Probe them, they just shot at each other and killed each other.
Has anyone else ever seen this, or have any explanation?

Cool.
I've played a lot of games with both SMAC and SMACX with various patches and I've never seen anything like it. Was it one battle, or are the Spartans engaged in a serious civil war here?

May be someone else (someone behind the fog of war, or just invisible) probed one of the Spartan units... If not... well, then, no ideas.
ABR do you happen to have saved this game one or two turns before this strange event happened ? If yes it would be good if we could share the fun of a civil war...

I am not sure if I have a save of this game I can upload, I will check.
After doing this three or so times, the Spartans stopped. I've gone about 30 years now and they haven't done it since. They do keep marching infantry and rovers on me, though they've since been attacked from the west by the Believers. Nice to see my two top military adversaries beat up on each other while I make cash and my pact brother Zakarov gets me some research.
Strange nobody had seen this before though.
