Mobius photographed those roos - little juvenile Eastern Greys - only a coupla hundred metres from my house - don't you think its cool to have wildlife around like that? I love it.
The landscape shot also gives you a good idea of what Christmas is like in Australia - hot - and dry as a nun's boob.
The first Skippy I narrowly missed with the car was standing in the middle of the road - didn't even move when I came to a screeching halt in a cloud of blue tyre smoke inches from its head. I had to honk the horn to get it to move. The next one was a hundred metres down the road.
The one that hit the car bounded out before I could brake - it actually hit the side of the car, bounced off, and hopped away
Meanwhile Mobius points his very expensive camera at them at 200 yards and they flee

Except that it's mostly roadkill when you actually see it...
On the first day of our recent roadtrip there was this 12km stretch of road near the Hunter Valley that was a veritable killing field of Australian Fauna. I saw my first Roo, Wombat and Emu along there - all dead!
The Wombat was particularly sad as it just looked like a stuffed toy on its side with its legs in the air. *sniff*
To make things worse, the first Australia Snake I saw I managed to run over as it looked like a black repair mark in the road until it moved too late - still I can take comfort in the fact that it was probably deadly poisonous...
I did get to see a wild Platypus on the Murray River though which is supposed to be a rare sight - and it was even alive!

Horse, are you not embarassed that your city has so many references to Spinky?

Yeah, seems like Spinky has really made himself at home in the nation's capital...

Glad you asked.
Think of it like this, there are 2 types of snakes. The non-poisonous type, like pythons, which are nice and cuddly, and only try to strangle you to death, and the nasty poisonous ones, like taipans, which sink their teeth into you and don’t let go until you drop dead.
Well, there are 2 types of Koalas in Australia. Koala Bears, which are nice, and cuddly, and only attempt to remove you face with the sharp claws it uses for gripping onto tree trunks, and Drop-Bears, so called because they drop onto unsuspecting victims from above, and proceed to not only remove your face, but your limbs too...
In fact, Drop-Bears are our best deterrent against foreign invaders. Other countries have land mines, we have Drop-Bears.

Sorry, I just noticed it out of the corner of my eye but lost it whilst laughing. A very interesting analogy.

Embarrassed? I wasn't the one scouring the street directory for references to Stew
A new form of homesickness perhaps

Only cos I kept coming across them - there's even a town in Victoria called Dookie!
It's bad enough knowing there's one of him - but to find a whole town...

He doesn't need to, his insidious presence has already permeated the peaceful tree-lined and curvy streets of Canberra suburbia - your first line of defence (getting people lost in Canberra's bendy streets) has failed!
In fact you could be one of Spink's minions and not even know it!

Doubtful... he can't keep quiet more than 3 seconds.

Well I've had a sighting in another thread, the fact that he's not posting here is that he doesn't want to blow his operation to take over Canberra?
It could explain why John Howard is such a nob...

I just like spelling it without the 'K'
So, you're confirming that Howard is a puppet of Stu's? Can't he make him do something useful then?
