Colinization: I WANT A NEW VERSION
Colinization!
I would like to start a forum of discussion about the old Dos game colinization.
First off, I love this game. It provides both the military and ecconomic models for the time period sort of, but it also provides a kind of fresh approach to time period. I loved it for it little bit of education on the indians "even though it was generalized", and the various "settlers" you could use and develop.
That along with the fight against the crown. I loved the game. I just have one thing though....
WHEN WILL THERE BE A COLINIZATION 2!! I have soo many ideas! I just wish Sid would get working on it!!!
Anyway my 2 cents....keep talkin...mabye we can muscle him into doing it!

They should fix Civ3 first.

I'd like a new version too. I enjoyed the gameplay of building up and preparing for the eventual revolution. I played the game a few time over the summer, and still enjoyed it, although it was very slow loading up.

there is already a forum for this, and this topic has been regurgitated to death.....as much as i would like to see a new colonization as well
check in the civ1 section, or classic games...or something like that, you will see tons of topics on coloniztation.

I agree, Colonization 2 would be a great idea.
But I don´t trust Firaxis with it. I´d hope someone else does Colonization 2, as well as CivIV...

Actually we have the Colonization II project that aims at producing an alternative sequel to the old Colonization game by Sid and MicroProse. I suggest you have a look at this very dedicated project.

No. I'm not working on a SMAC clone. Touché! You can check the Freeciv SMAC clone project's website and notice that my name isn't mentioned there.
However I'm working with Stella Polaris right now, among with a bunch many other developers like Blake. Feel free to visit the StP forum here on ACS Forums for more details.
As for mentioning the Col II project, I feel fully entitled to mention it as IMO it looks promising and as a pro alternative game development person I felt that this project (much better known down at CGN) warrants to be mentioned.

I concur. I want a Colonization 2 as soon as humanly possible, with the caveat that it is not buggy, rushed, or lacking multiplayer features.

Here here!
Colonization was superb. I downloaded it recently and was pleasantly surprised that it ran on my modern PC. More enjoyable than Civ2, even.

I still play colonization, it's never left my harddrive.
I'd be happy if just the combat was fixed.

a combo of civ and col would make for a great game...at least they got the trade model down

Boris, would you be ever so kind and PM me where you downloaded Colonization from? I just spent the last half-hour searching for my copy, to no avail...

Didn't Firaxis just got the right to use the XCOM name or something? I think they are working on a game in that series.

There are two games I would love to see, one is colonization and the other is RRTIII. I'll even pay double
So long...

It is a good source but in this instance:
"Since this game is copyrighted by an IDSA member, we are not permitted to distribute it due to the IDSA notice. Please contact the company directly to either sell it to you, release it into the public domain, or give us the permission to distribute"

An update to Colonization is a nice thought, but they would just make a giant mess of it. I am one of the few on these boards who despises Civ 3. The update to MoOIII looks just as worrying. No, I can live with Colonization as it is. Better graphics would be nice, but gameplay is the most important thing. I simply don't trust the ****ers making games today to pull it off. Scuse the pun.

The underdogs used to have it before they where threateneed by lawyers, and had to take all the games made by the big publishers (IDSA members) down. (Oh no, they're distributing 15 year old games for free!! )

I managed to find it somewhere, can't remember where. Too bad, no music, it really set the atmosphere very well as I recall. But, otherwise, it's like it's 1994 all over again! Yeeeeeeehaw!
(Not surprisingly, I always play as the French.)

All we need is for someone to give us aniti-aliasing for old chunky graphics. How hard can that be?
