He must have at least one bonus food resource. I am close enough to look for myself in a couple of turns.

I'm waiting on Ghengis.
By the way, I don't have all the resources and luxuries you think I do. I'm sure you'll all be passing my score in a few turns. Ghengis is really catching up fast.

I usually like islands because it gives me time to build up a few decent cities before the enemies come. But no expansion until you get ships.

All of you have just about caught up to my score. Question: Now that Shinshi has a population of only 1, why is it still at the top of the Best five City list?
Have any of you ever played IL-2 Sturmovik? It's a great WW2 flight simulator. Much better than MS Combat Flight Simulator (although I haven't tried CFS3)

Yes, I tried IL-2 but found it a bit too complicated and not to my taste. Too hard to fly and too much getting shot down.

I play the fighter/bomber campaign so there's not too much getting shot down. My problem is misjudging height from the ground and either a) crashing into my target or b) getting torn to pieces by my own bomb shrapnel. Anyway, I'm getting better at it. (?) There's a new version coming out soon that lets you fly light bombers and switch between positions in the plane.
Turn sent to Alva, by the way.

Sent again.
I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon so I don't know if I will be able to take my next turn until after I come back. I might be able to get back earlier than I thought but I'm not sure. Anyway, send my turn to me and I'll take it when I can.

I have been thinking (always dangerous I know) and looking at a few other PBEM threads. Before this game goes any further could we clarify what is and is not allowed in out of game negotiations?
I understand the need to clarify trade negotiations by e-mail, otherwise it takes too long.
I came across a post suggesting that you should not trade minimaps until one of the two civs has discovered mapmaking?
I am particularly thinking of science pacts and military agreements. A science pact would be "you research tech A and I'll research tech B, then we swap".
Military agreements could be "Yes, I'll sign a ROP with you but your troops are only allowed into a defined area of my territory" or "Yes, I'll stay neutral whilst you attack player X but you give me city Y when it's all over"
I don't mind what is agreed but I would like to be clear now, rather than do something which later turns out to be a no-no.
Sorry if this seems a bit heavy.

What I like about PBEM is that you can do these kinds of complicated deals with humans. As long as you don't cheat (i.e. doctor the game file or something) then I think just about anything should be allowed. Mini-map exchanging before map-making is discovered -- not sure about this one. It never struck me as being a bad thing but I suppose it does remove some of the realism from the game.

I don't see how trading mini-maps is unrealistic. Even before maps were map there were rumors and knowledge of far away kingdoms. The first "maps" were extremely crude and not very useful.

Ghengis,
When you look at trading mini-maps from that point of view then I guess it doesn't take the realism out of the game. I heard of a mighty warrior named Ghengis Farb who was cursed by an evil Map Generator to be stuck on an island . . .
