By all means, do it. My hypersensitive lobby group is too busy watching Will & Grace and ER tonight to do any anal whining.

You're confused - anal whining is actually a rather disturbing sound made in a certain type of intimate exchange sans lubrication

And I'd say this wasn't a certainty, either. I am currently behind more than three posters, and it is entirely possible I won't get nearly the same amount of votes next time.
Look at red_jon...he went from 9 votes last time to 0 this time (not to dredge it up, rj, old bean). Considering the standings, I'd say orange, reismark, DinoDoc, Locutus and DanS were shoo-ins before I am.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Post count isn't a reliable measure of contributions to the community. On one end, we have Panag, who (IIRC) is at or near Emperor level, yet has done almost nothing. On the other end, there's CivNation.
Basically, I have the same sentiments as Ming. I'd suggest sending all of the HoFers (except MarkG, DanQ, Ming, MtG, Imran, Vel, Xin, Stefu, and Mao) out of the Hall (those thrown out would still be eligible to get back in). I'd also suggest only counting votes from the previous election (also posted that in the other HoF thread), drop the effect date of registration has on the weight one vote is given and allow a minimum waiting period before someone can vote (say, six months after registration).
And if I had got my OTF posts in when they still counted, I'd be an Emperor already.

Maybe have a 1000 post thing. I'd rather had a time requrement though, like 1 to 2 years of being around before people can vote for them.

i like the idea of the carry over votes, even if they did 'cost' me from being inducted this time. That way if someone jets for a little bit, and then comes back stronger than ever (KrazyHorse, for example) they won't have to 'start over' from scratch in the votes.

That's pretty harsh... I look at the current HOF and really don't have many arguments about most of the people in it. I would only want to toss a handfull or so
The list is made up of many of the people that were around when it wasn't as active as it is now... true HOF'ers of this forum... Many of them were here long before there was even a OTF... people that made the Apolyton Forums what they are today.

It would be kind of nice for us newbie if the old timer could start some history threads about some of those old HOF'ers.
In a real hall of fame they tell about the exploits of the people in it.
ACK!

Most newbies don't like hearing about the past though. I've gotten flamed a few times for bringing up NIM.

Ming - that is unfair. Personally, I would have been here earlier, posting away with the greats if I had known about Apolyton before. I mean, i was here in Feb of 2000, and that's when Provost Harrison joined. I think there many people who joined in 2001, and even 2002 that are very important to the forums - whether on or off topic, and I think that's what the voters should decide.
Just my $.02

Why is this all about me? It's not like there aren't plenty of other OTers on the HoF list. I guess I have just made an impression on some folks.
I think it's rather insulting to the people who voted for me to imply they were somehow voting frivolously or influenced by some sort of politicking. They did so because they wanted to.
Darkcloud, if you had wanted to post this poll fairly, you should have left my name out of it entirely, because now it seems like it's just a referendum on me rather than on the issue.

If I wasn't around at the time I wouldn't have complained. Back in the day, when the alphacentauri.com forums went down, a few people wandered over to Apolyton because they had all this extra time on their hands now. If you hadn't generated all that spam the forums might have been up longer and it would have taken people much more time to find Apolyton as there would be no motivation to.

Without me the forum would be nothing!!!
Alphacentauri.com died because the game was so buggy there were millions of people complaining about it. But apparently internet communities need bugs so they can thrive.

so THAT'S why Civ 3 sucked! It was all a conspiracy with Apolyton to keep the boards alive!
Mike you may have stumbled onto something bigger than all of us

No, I am talking about the alphacentauri.com forums, not the alpha.owo forums. You remember, the forums were YYYH led a cookie army and where NIM started. It is also the forum where we were talking about the size of Lara Crofts' breasts and you started talking about an ex-girlfriend of yours in comparison. You stated you dumped her but weren't sure why anymore. I'm pretty sure it was you.
The only non-spamish thing I remember you doing was starting that one club for people who have played Pirates!
