What the---?!

Did I completely misunderstand what happened, or did Ted screw up and accidentally vote for Brian when he meant to vote AGAINST him, thus giving Brian the win by one vote?!!!!

Generally speaking, these Survivors are not giving us a very good view of humanity. First the Most Arrogant A$$hole wins S1. Then the Manipulative Bee-atch cons the Nice But Incredibly Dumb Guy and wins S2. Then the nice soccer dude wins S3 and I begin to have hope. But then A Complete Scumbucket wins S4.

Ick. No more reality TV for me, it's too much truly real life, where the players take the money and leave the losers *still* respecting them.

Kepler, who should have won in your opinion? I thought Helen was the best person in the contest and should have won.

Survivor remains fascinating me because it really is a game that can only be one by the best player. It may be that the best player won this Survivor challenge.

I was rooting for Jan. Her only chance was if she won the last challenge in the Round of 3 and got immunity, since then she would have won in comparison to either The Liar or The Cracker.

The best strategist won this one, absolutely. I just hate it that 90% of humanity falls in like sheep behind the most self-assured person (in this case, Brian), and says "thank you very much" even after they've been slaughtered. This may be a species survival trait, but it tends to assure that in every generation the Creeps inherit the Earth.

Oh, and I have since been informed that Ted pulled a "moral superiority moment" and at the end of his rant added "but I'm still a man of my word" (a line I missed because my stepdaughter was yammering) and so intended to vote for Brian. Effectively, Ted "proved he's a better man" than Brian by handing him the $1,000,000. Gee, he sure showed him!

Hehe, true true.

At first I wanted that Taiwanese girl to win, but seeing as how she was voted off I was rooting for jake, and seeing how he was voted off...

SPOILER SPACE

Then I began rooting for Helen, but seeing as she was voting out I was going for Jan but seeing as how she was going out I gave up.

Spoiler space.

Well, bash me if you want, but Brian so totally deserved the million. He was playing all of them like fiddles from Day 1 and no one ever saw it coming, and he managed to stay completely likeable at the same time. It almost slipped through his fingers tonight, but his strategy was justly rewarded.

Kepler: If you watched the reunion, you'll understand why Ted (and Helen, too) ended up voting for Brian despite having legitimate beefs with him.

I agree. Brian played a great game. Can't believe Clay didn't see it coming .

Clay didn't play a very good game at the end. He needed to focus and portray himself as the lesser of two evils.

It's amazing how little fuss he put up for $900k.

How ignorant was it to even want to see family at all?
Much less see overnight.
And the one guy, last of his tribe. He knew he was next, and had his wife eat that crap anyway.

Two things shock me:

1) That Clay made it as far as he did. Now, it obviously was a good strategy on Brian's part to take him to the final two at that point, but I still don't see how he wasn't kicked off much, much earlier in the game.

2) That Helen and Jan (and to a lesser extent, Ted) didn't form an alliance. If they had any common sense, they would have figured out that they were gonna be axed near the end. On the interview part, Helen said she approached Jan, but I don't recall them ever showing that on TV, and Jan doesn't remember it happening. What's the deal with that?

That's the one that gets me.

Helen could have easily made it to the final 2.
1- get Jan to eliminate Brian
2- get Clay to eliminate Jan

That doesn't guarantee her a win but at least she's up against Clay.

Wouldn't have worked. Brian won the last three imunity challanges. They would have had to go after clay. But either jan or helen could have beat Brian in the final vote, so Brian did the obviously right thing, bring along a bigger ass than yourself.

The reunion is definately better when Jeff hosts it. He asks much tougher questions, so the entertainment value was much higher.

And I too thought at first that Ted thought he was voting against brian. (my daughter was talking and I didn't hear the last sentence either)

One thing that really struck me about the reunion was that, in the past, the groups seemed to be more easy going and have the "it was just a game" attitude. This time around, there seemed to be alot of genuine hostility and dislike among alot of the competitors.

Reismark is right, the best player won the game. I just can't believe people didn't notice that Brian left a trail of slime wherever he went; I was pulling for Helen, but just like Ken & Gerard in the Amazing Race, my favorites screwed the pooch when the endgame began...

Since Brian won the last 3 immunity tests , I felt he was a deserving winner-- The only way to oust him might have been if Ted-Helen-Jan had gotten together to oust Clay earlier. This could likely have meant that Helen could make it to the top 3 and I get the sense she would have been a formidable opponent in that final test.

It did seem like there was a lot of animosity but I kind of liked the attitude of Ted and Helen which seemed to be --- " you screwed me but you were the best player"-- I thought that Clay was a hanger on -- kinda like Rudy in the first survivor ( although Rudy was a much harder worker)

In the reunion, Clay showed that he had some smarts I would not have credited him for. I wondered why he had voted for Jake when the alliance had determined it was Penney's turn to go. I would not thought him capable of an endplay based on the idea of getting Penney's vote.

Overall I thought this survivor was the one most like the first one in that

Brian was a known leader like Richard Hatch and won anyway
Both Jan and Clay had characteristics of Rudy in that they were seen as loyal to the puppetmaster and pretty much followed him to the end

Helen was angry much like the Susan character in the first survivor and for similar reasons

Boy, I tell ya.

Getting paid to have sex with large-breasted nymphomaniacs, and then winning $1 million on national television with millions of people watching.

Talk about living that American Dream.

Brian deserved it, he played beautifully. I wondered when someone even tries to put up a decent alliance against him, because he was never in big danger, and was pretty much dictating who goes next. Absolutely brilliant play. And at the end of the game, it was even more clear that Brian is playing ruthless game as he talked about the last remaining 5 of them. Then others started going about him beeing dishonest and all, but it's a game and he won! The losers are always complaining, saying they had decency and they kept their word.. well I got news for them, they lost!

I first rooted for that big boobed chick, she was cute, and smart too. I didn't like Shi Ann, I thought she was a but arrogant. And the cop from NYC, he was cool too.
From the other tribe I liked Brian from the start and Ted. Later on I started liking Helen too, I wish that maybe Ted would've won the game... but it still turned out good.

Now who was that cute girl from Survivor II, Australia?
Elizabeth? WOw, I'm in love with her, she's sooooo cute and nice . So if you're reading this, PM me!

It just doesn't take much on the ball to be a jerk, folks. Brian definitely deserved to get to the final -- he won the immunity challenges and worked his butt off. But he was such an OBVIOUS predator... I can't believe that Ted and Helen played their little "I'm better than you are" game there at the end. I'm sureBrian and his (oddly dumpy) wife are just laughing their asses off at that one.

As far as his likeability goes -- I found him a waste of tissue from early on, and he never disappointed after that. The human penchant for following strength blindly and dumbly is a head-scratcher.

Kepler, my thoughts exactly.. I too wondered why Ted and Helen couldn't get it working.. Brian won those immunities at the end, so it was no good, so they should have got rid of him earlier. But both Helen and Ted had to know that if they're going to be in the final.. Brian is their number one threat, and in a game like that, you should think hard when you want to move the threat, and when it's too late. I think they knew, but it was too late.. He totally gained their trust, and got himself to position where he can pretty much go the way he wanted to. Easy to say from here I know.. but Brian was, like Kepler said, an obvious predator.

"I too wondered why Ted and Helen couldn't get it working."

I got the impression that if Ted hadn't inadvertently drunk himself into a stupor, they might have put it together. Ted made the bid, did a smart play, but failed miserably.

Hey, I have officially approached Elisabeth! That's more than many other will ever do.. You never know, everything is possible. Honestly

Ted was so wasted . I also thought what Jan did wasn't very smart, when she knew they voting for Helen, and she knew 100% she was going to be next. And thinking her chances in immunity challenge... not that good.. well, hard decision for her, and she must of thought this one too and decided against it.. but still a bit odd move.

Actually, getting rid of Helen wasn't that bad of a move for Jan. However, the success of the entire play was contingent on her winning the last immunity. Whether or not banking on immunity was smart or not is a good question, of course.

Winning immunity would have given here a chance to play off against Clay by kicking off Brian. She would have crushed Clay.
