Applying minor graphical mods in PTW?
Ok, I know you can apply some mods using the scenario menu but how do I got about apply minor graphical mods permanently? Say I permanently want non messy railroads even if I'm using some other scenario or mod as well?
I've tried copying railroads.pcx into the art directory like I would in normal Civ3. That doesn't work.
What do I need to do?

You should be able to just copy it into the PtW\Art\Terrain folder, and it should work fine.

I did.
These are the only files in my terrain directory.
and railroad.pcx is one i copied into there.
There wasn't a version of it there before.
4 files in the directory.

should work. I moved the standard terrain and cities into a temp folder and moved Warpstorms watercolor graphics in and it works fine as the default graphic set now.

That won't work if the mod has a copy of the railroads.pcx in it like my Watercolor Terrain does. This has to do with the search order of files. When PTW is loading files it looks for them in a certain order. If it finds one in the order it looks in, it stops looking any further. The order it looks in is as follows:
1. The directories listed in the scenario search path in the order listed
2. The directory that has the same name as the mod
3. The PTW directories
4. The Civ3 directories
To make it work you can either add it to a directory and add that to the search path or overwrite the files in all scenarios that you plan on playing (the search path iway s safer).
Mike B, I ask again, please consider a 'global' (i.e. trans-scenario) higher priority search path.

Yes, that would be nice....a folder that supercedes all others, no matter the search path
