May I join in? I have some ToT scenario design experience and quite a bit of scenario experience in general. The only problem is that this would be my first PBEM game and you might have to drag me along a little as far as jargon and procedure are concerned. I would like to take the Spanish Legions for 200, please.

I'd like to get the last 2 positions filled, first. My problem (such as it is ) is that I'm leaving tomorrow for 2 weeks vacation. I Won't be back until the 6 of January. So yes, ANZAC, please start as soon as we can get the Gauls and Cisalpine Legion spots filled. We need a Caesar and a Vercingetorix. Kull, you wanted in on this didn't you?
And no, start on Diety (or whatever I've renamed that to). I'm defying convention, 'cause I think the AI SHOULD cheat.

As much as it galls me to play as the French, I'll take de Gauls....
I do have one question- and please don't take offense - but is it really a good idea for the designer to release a new scenario for playtest - and immediately disappear for two weeks?

Yes it is. I'll try to find an internet cafe and check in, but I can't guarantee it. I was trying to get this out a month or so ago, as you know, but these things have their own stubborn pace. If people want to wait until Jan 6 to start, that's fine too. I have played several SP games as various civs, and I'm not anticipating major problems.

Caesar shall forth: the things that threaten'd me / Ne'er look'd but on my back; when they shall see /The face of Caesar, they are vanished.
I'll do it.

Soldiers train to become better. Troops being transfered around the region. In other words all is clear at the moment.
Parthian king, check your private messages.
Egypt, All the good fortune to you.
Roman Senate. Hello, I'm at your service.
My friends, allies Pompey and Ceasar. Lets keep the peace between us and rule in good faith for the people of the Romans.
To the rest, the Barbarians. Bow to Rome and pay your tribute to us. We will be your friends, your enemies.
I dont know, old age is great.

The aeon-weary farmers of Aegyptus are interested in trading the art of Pachydermy for something developed in the Barbarian lands unless, of course, they are still impressed with simple things like milking-horse-mares and finding-mountains-where-they-left-them out there.

Parthia has marshalled her troops to garrison our borders against invasion by the Roman infidel. Any attempt to cross the Euphrates will be viewed as an act of war. Likewise, Roman incursion from the lands of their Armenian ally Artavasdes will be met with force.
In the south, the undefended barbarian cities of Susa and Chorax have been taken by our forces.
The Emperor of the Parthians is off to indulge in the festivities for the God Mithras. The Empress informs me that I won't be at home to any invading Roman scum until the hangover has worn off on 27 December.

Any particular reason why you posted a sav instead of net file? It's just a little odd...

The Syrian Post newspaper reports:
- Imperial Legions train in the camps.
- Commerical deals were made with the people of Isreal.
- An advertising campaign stating Crussus is the most beautiful person of his age is under way.
- Rumours have it that Crussus is in Syria to get married.
- The most selling toy of the christmas season this year is the talking Crussus doll. Crussus states that hes made a huge fortune selling these dolls.
-Crussus will always be remembered in history. Hes sure of that. Thats why hes selling these dolls stated a merchant.
Well thats all we have to report this year.
In other news ....

Gaza Taken
The Barbarian city of Gaza has fallen to the glorious armies of Cleo. Jerusalem will be a tougher nut to crack. We might give up on that entirely and move south to Petra.
A shipment of slaves from the capital is being moved to Hermopolis.

If you think it's a good idea to let me handle it, I could do it.
Michael: Just FYI, it's C aesar. The Classical/Ciceronian (as opposed to Church and plain English) pronunciation is "Kaiser".

I regret to inform you that Pompey has temporarily taken leave on a Mediterranean cruise as part of the celebrations of the winter solstice and will not be back until next month. As his foreign minister, he has requested that I fill in for him. There are only a few minor newsworthy items to mention:
-I am pleased to report a record minimum of oxcart accidents on the roads over the holidays.
-A minor disturbance occurred in the city of Cordoba believed to be incited by holiday revelers.
-Sales for the recently introduced "Crassus" doll fell sharply after the appearance of the "Pompey Action Figure" on the shelves of local trade markets. Sales representitives for the Crassus Toy Company declined to comment.
Until next month . . .
