This is the thread for saves for the 1270 A.D. turnchat.

I'm now in the chatroom, but I'll be AFK while I help my brother unpack (he showed up 10 minutes ago). That will likely mean that chat will start 10-15 minutes LATE, but I'm told that someone is finishing up their orders as we speak anyhow.

Turn 1 (1270 A.D.):

Sold India rubber for 42 LPT + their WM
Sold Aztecs Replaceable Parts for 66 LPT + their WM
Slider moved to 70% science - Scientific Method in 3 turns, Income 636 LPT
England asked to leave - their units depart our territory
WAR STARTS... we invade with explorers to rip up territory. Some English and German units are in the way. We kill the Germans, hope the one stack of english (rifleman, swordsman, archer) pillages at Berlin #8 when they start the war with Germany (almost certainly next turn).
5 Artillery took up position northeast of Seeberg and shelled German forces in the mountains south of Hamburg
8 Artillery took up position west of Abandonment and shelled the German city of Hamburg (damaged all 3 veteran riflemen, KILLED CITIZENS - Hamburg now down to Pop 11)

Between Turns

Zulus frigate+galley combos move past Uber Isle on north and south
England moves very large stack of riflemen and swords to west of Nuremberg
England moves some warriors to east of Abandoment (in our territory)

Our Ironclad was moved 3 SW and fortified. We are now in sight of the Roman ironclad/galleon combo 2 SW of us
3 artillery bombard Hamburg and the first destroyed the barracks, the other two cause no damage
2 cavalry attack shellshocked Germans southwest of Hamburg and kill 2 rifles (1 cav damaged in the process)
Elite knight kills the German longbowman southeast of Hamburg
3 artillery bombard Hamburg and 2 do no damage and the third damages a veteran rifle by 1 hitpoint
2 artillery bombard Hamburg and one does no damage while the other damages a veteran rifle by 1 hitpoint
1 artillery bombards Hamburg and KILLS CITIZENS - Hamburg now Pop 10
3 artillery bombard Hamburg and 2 do no damage and the third damages a veteran rifle by 2 hitpoints

I don't see why we had to abandon Hamburg. We could have used it as a worker factory and produce slaves out of all the foreign population before abandoning it.

There are several reasons that Hamburg was abandonded:

1) it's close Proximity to Berlin, which has a very high cultural rating, would make flipping it very easy. We would have had to keep a very large force their to try to prevent that.

2) It having Resistors, would increase the chance of it flipping, thereby requiring a larger force to try to prevent that.

3) is would take a while to pair it down for worker factory/starving off, which would tie up the flip prevention force and still have the danger of flipping

4) If the war does last a fair amount of time, the increasing Unhappiness will make it hard to keep it from flipping again.

5) There was nothing of value there to warrent keeping it

Notice a thread of concerns.... Being ours from the start and getting a 1 turn rush of a Temple will help with the flipping issue very nicely. We won't be forced to keep a larger force their.

War Is hell, so they say and I intend to make the Germans realize that.....

Just to let you know, I intend to do the same with Stuttgart, but the new City will be 1 tile further south than it is. I also plan on saving the Settler from Abandonment for Frankfurt. If there is nothing of value to really warrent keeping it, then it goes too.

Because the Senate wishes to save taking Berlin until the end of the War, that Is what this Office will do to take and Keep what is ours, until Berlin Falls.

I honestly still don't understand why we couldn't have garrisoned Hamburg with some of our conscripts (perhaps I should review the save again), but I have always respected your judgement E_T.
