Modifying Units
I've never tried modifying units, but I'd like to change the Spy unit. Can anyone tell me the easiest way? What I'd like to do is download a different Spy unit or use one from an existing scenario (Jules Verne). Any help is appreciated

The best in-game tool for modifying units is in the expansion pack- "Fantastic Worlds"

You have to edit your units.gif file. Locate the old spy and paint over him with the transparent color, then paste in your own spy. It's important that you place him correctly. Be careful not to paint over the "borders" around the unit picture. On the borders there are two pixel with a different color, they determine the placement of the shield.
Just mess around a little and you will discover how it works
I have changed a lot of the units, with others I like. It's quite fun to have a personalized civ 2.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't sound too difficult. One more question, where can I find some units to download?

Check out the scenario site links: Scenario League, Civ. Scen. Collection etc., or the download area under Civilization II.

Well, thank for the congrats- but the scenario only works in "fantastic worlds" and the units weren't designed by me *shame* *shame* I did, however design some of the terrain!
