How do I get the sound to work in Moo1?
I am waiting for Moo3, and just finished playing Moo2 so going to start Moo1 now.
I played last year and had sound, but now I have no music, but just the clicking sound and bombs dropping.
How do I get the music back? I tried all my irq and what not settings and it still dosn't work.
Any tips will be apprciated.

Never enabled the music, only the sound which I usuall leave the speakers off. The first two years I had the game, it had no sound and I do not miss it.
It has a seperate set up for it and used 330 IIRC.

I know what you mean vmxa1, it is just nostalgia and wanted to hear it. I love when I get the erie music when my Darloks infiltrate the enemy and do some sabotage.

I have to say, I love the music in MOO1, especially the themes of the different races-- they are very well done! The goofy Klackon theme sounds just like a bunch of ants marching and stealing food from your cupboard. The Bulrathi theme sounds like a big lazy bear bouncing around. The Alkari sounds just like a soaring bird
I "solved" my sound problems by keeping a Win98 partition around, and fiddling with Sound Blaster emulation settings that the SB Live drivers have. I don't know how this works in new Windowses.

It's not very technical-- I just kept an old PC with Win98 so I can play old games.
If you want to install Win98 to a new computer, you would need to use a program like PartitionMagic to carve off some disk space, or buy a second hard disk, and then install Win98 on it. The word "partition" refers to a slice of the hard disk reserved for one operating system. Usually there is just one, but there can be several.

You can have a dual boot with your pc that has XP and Win98, if you want. I do not as I have an 98SE 1.7GH pc for back up.

I have a problem getting sound to work in MOO as well. The game plays great but sound will not work. I have Win98 and Soundblaste Live Value. I've tried all sorts of things editing autoexec.bat etc., but nothing has worked. Anyone have any suggestions?? I would really appreciate it.

Well Tom what I tried was, going to the dos prompt type install and then go to
"reconfigure hardware options"
then try all sorts of irq settings and what not. nothing worked for me, except at least I have special effects sounds.
What have you tried?

Are there Sound-Blaster emulators for other Soundcards aswell?
I can only select the Roland Cards but if I do so the game locks up when I start it. I can also only select IRQs up to 7 for em while it uses IRQ 11 which is unable to be changed

I have not seen any modern sound cards in the last 5 or more years that do not emulate SB. You should be able to select as if you have an original SB card.

Most mother boards now do not have a slot for those old cards. Frankly I played the game for the first two years with no sound and rarely turn it on for Moo1, it is not worth worry about.

Well, I have to say, I really loved the music in Moo 1! Much more then for Moo 2. The cool soundtrack, when you conquered or lost a planet, the hymes of the Darloks or the Psilons... all really nice stuff, I am missing.
