If I play any of you in CM MP, I promise to lose so you won't be embarassed about getting beaten by an american.
It's the least I can do...

So does the bidding work real-time or turn based?

Well the bidding just plays out as it does in a SP game, unless your buying from another human player, then the other human player can accept or decline right there and then or delay the decision for a week. So i suppose its turn based but often resolved on the same day (in CM time) highest bidder wins. I dont know how much bidding has changed though in cm4.
I remember there was a clan of 10 Scots playing the Scottish PM with all teams controlled by humans, you can only imagine how much fun that was... and what a headache to organise sessions. Sufficed to say they never took players below 16 year old.

I doubt it, the saves for cm01/02 are over 50MB just to start the game with minimum leagues, unless they radically changed something for a pbem version.

They might get around the huge save-file problem with a program that sorts out only the information that has been changed. But that would hardly matter, I can't see that the game would be enjoyable in pbem.

Ripped this from SI forums.

As of about 30 minutes ago, we have changed the release dates of both the game and magazine.
The magazine will now be launched on Feb 28th, and CM4 will be out in March (date to be confirmed).
This gives us time keep tuning the game an make some more refinement - I make no apologies for the changes in dates, as the only thing that is important to us is to give you the best game we possibly can.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. It WILL be worth the wait.
|
Nothing big really, i also read the demo will be out on Feb 28th with the magazine, but the release will be later, in March. In most ways its a good sign when they delay the release, shame Firaxis didnt do the same eh!

As long as it doesn't turn into a MOO3 type delay I'm OK with it.

A fan-made mod with all the latest transfers for the English league will be out very quickly I think. There's always some geek who does these things before they even play the game.

Theres gonna be no editor with CM4 though, as there wasnt an editor with the first CM3, it could be a while, although it is tempting...

Who here would be up for multi-player sessions...?
I used to play CM1, CM2, and the Italia version a lot with friends round my house (usually 6 of us). Playing against each other was always more fun and usually resulted in humiliating defeats for one side - In the first leg of one cup tie I lost 0-6, and won the return leg 8-1.

I've recently wasted a weekend with the editor bringing my 00/01 game up to date - how sad is that? (Only the EPL, though - life's too short)

Yes, thats very sad, especially as theres probably an update for download somewhere already.
The 97/98 editor was quality, i can even remember the commands to load the databases. tmdata - for teams, mgdata - for managers, players - player database. On second thought they werent that hard to remember.

I couldn't get the hang of creating super-players - there's this 'handyman' option which sets all the stats to 20, but for some reason Wayne Rooney came out as a footballing God, and James Milner turned out a complete muppet...
And when I set Southampton's average attendance to what it is in real life (ie close to full), they became one of the richest teams in the league...
And I still got sacked...

I can't remember which version it was but I edited in myself and my brother into our usual favourite teams to play as. We gave ourselves perfect ratings and we were the best players in the league.
One day I edited the player stat "pace/speed" and "fitness" for my brother to minimum. He didn't realise at first, but wondered why he was always getting knackered in games after about 20 minutes. I told him he was just a fat bloater who needed to exercise more.

Im guessing its the same as before with tcp/ip, although a lobby with all hosted games would be a nice feature.
I also noticed the "goalkeeper rating" on the wayne rooney screenshot, looks like it might have replaced "reflexes".

then again I was a lot stronger at 16 than I am now!
It does at least look as though you can't do the narrow tactics stuff that semi-ruined 01/02. (though Reading is using a 4231 to overachieve)
