First Civ2 on network
I have resently been playin an old copy of civ 2 cuz frankly me and my friends cant cope with having AI in Call to power...... they just litural take us out with hours
However... with my versian of civ 2 it seems there is no way to play on network as it stands.. i think this is down to it been an original civ2 disk not the civ2 GOLD edition
To conclude my point... is it possible to download some patch or mod wich will allow me to play my versian on the network........
Please help, anything will do.
Thankyou in advance
Tom

As long as you have the official update for "2.42 Classic" it will, good idea to pick up the latest Indeo video drivers and codecs from www.ligos.com. You need either the .ace files OR the .exe

Why the flag of Argentina when you seem to write in a Mancunian accent?

If you're only planning to use it locally, rather than against the rest of the world, try this program:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/gjay/mpciv2.html
A multiplayer patch created before the advent of the "official" multiplayer Civ2. I've never tried it, so I don't know how good or reliable it is, though.

erm one problem with that little mod Greene........
you then have to use your cd everytime you want to start a game... and if im playing it on lan that meens 5 people passing my one cd around.... not very handy if you know what i meen. Is there anyway gettin round this so just the host uses the cd or somthing, im not surggesting a n"no cd" hack but it might be the only option.
Mercator..... i tried that... got lost.. and turn my computer off in disgust... not very user friendly for a n00b like moi.
Thnx all you been a great help.. this one last thiing could save me alot time if anyone can help me..

... and all the game is checking is whether there is a Cd with a file called Civ2.exe in the appropriate sub directory of the lowest lettered CD player - so go toast a clone or make a fake...

yeah buut the greatest thing about civ2 was that for example... your on a train with your laptop, you have a three hour journy, so why not start a glorius empire?? The same with a bunch of people having to swop music C.D's around with the game CD, i could see people becoming very annoyed.... its happened before
The tale to this is if you keep things to the very simplest, people will be able to enjoy the fact that they can be lazzy, not have to remember to bring cds and so on......
The crack works fine thnx,,,,
The only thing i gotta do know is set the hub up (got a 8 port hub for a tenner =])
Thnx.... bye bye

Ummm, if you download daemon tools I think you can play with no cd. It creates a fake cd-station and fools the puter.
