$30 to spend
I have $30 to spend and I can either buy call to power 2 or play the world.
I would love to play civ3 in MP against others, it is my first choice, but I want to know from you guys if it is worth buying.
period.
If i am going to be besieged with lags and crashes, then I would appreciate it if you told me so, because in that case I would prefer playing the AI in CTP2
thanks

I don't have either, by if I had $30 it would go to CTP2, I've heard a lot of good things about it recently-if it's modded.
ACK!

The question is how much do you like civ3?
Seems like ptw is one for the hardcore at the moment.
Buy CtP2 for $10 save abit then get ptw if people here tell you MP is smoother when its done being patched.

I was playing ctp2 a lot until I bought civ3. I always liked the ctp games but compared to civ3/PTW the ctp AI sucks. My choice for SP would be PTW, the MP is something of a bonus and they will presumably fix what they haven't already sorted out.

If you are set on playing Civ3 online, invest in a good broadband connection first. Once you have that I am sure you could find PTW for around $20; eBay/Half.com, after x-mas sales.

I liked moded CTP2 a lot, before I bought Civ3.
Now, I would say get PtW.
P.S.
Taking CTP2 is risky.
It's horrible without MODing, with MODs it's pretty decent (but AI is still not too good, but better then unMODed).
But, some people don't like CTP flavor.
At least with PtW you'll know what you are taking.
(and will have future patches)
