I think it only has room to show 4 or 5, so they do go quickly. I think they still have effect, although I could be wrong.

To the delegates of all nations: Akiria has just had:
Quote:
The Issue
The Department of Defense has put its case for a substantial increase in funding for the coming financial year.

The Debate
"There are turbulent times we live in," says Defense Chief Faith Longfellow. "Turbulent and dangerous. And the only sensible response to that, of course, is to build a lot more weapons. Unless we get the funding we need, I can't promise that we'll be able to defend Akiria's sovereign borders from rogue nations and foreign powers. Or those leaky boatloads of refugees, for that matter."

"NO MORE BOMBS," chant the protestors outside Parliament House, in a repetitious and increasingly annoying appeal. Spokesperson Buffy Hamilton, speaking through a feedback-afflicted microphone, says, "Akiria needs fewer weapons, not more! Make the world a safer place! Disarm now!"
Akiria has chosen option #2, and is in the process of disarming. We advise all other nations to do so. Would you rather live in a world full of arms, where we all have arms to act as 'deterrents' or a worold with no arms, and no need for deterrents. You may say it isn't practical, but this is our world, whatever we decide is practical. We can do this, we can have peace in our time, if we want it

When my nation was presented with this same option, we also chose option #2: disarmament. Political freedom in my country dropped from Very Good to Below Average.

Don't believe the liberals! First they take your guns, then they take your freedom!

Could be, but the Defense department seems to be very strong in my country.

Maybe they felt they had to crack some heads.

Ahh the Nazi issue came up. That was an easy one.

Running my civilization perfect is too boring . I wonder how fast I can run it into the ground .

I blocked corporations from donating money to political parties and allowed citizens to choose which government programs their taxes went to.

As a result, my Economy went from Strong to Weak, my UN category went from 'Left Leaning College State' to 'Iron Fist Socialists' and my Political Freedoms went from 'Some' to 'Few.' and my tax rate went from 25% to 30% and the rich get taxed more. This doesn't make any sense. Why would the tax rate change? Why would the Economy go down? Why would I become a socialist?

I would say the economy went down because the corporations don't like you.

From all the issues I've had to decide, the game seems to jump pretty heavily between the left/right extremes, which is sense since the questions seem to be of the "double military expenditures or disarm completely variety".

Anything anti-corporate reeks of socialism to the game.

Death penalty or not guys?

What would be the best position to stay moral? (I was 'inoffensive' yesterday)

Why would forbidding the death penalty lower your civil rights? Because being killed by the government is a "freedom"??

No, allowing people their democratic choice is good for civil and politcal rights. Do you value your own morality (no death penulty) of democracy (letting them have what they want) more? Your call.

Because the issue here is whether to ban an opposition political group in order to ensure that the death penalty isn't enacted.

Okay, I think I am going to go against. My biggest issue was wheter or not the death penalty represented a victory for morality (having been thourghly indoctrinated in US Republican politics).

And yes, there is the issue of popular support. If I was taking this simulation as a serious representation of what I would do if I ran a country I would've decided in favor.
