Ultimate Civ
Imagine this:
Begin a MOO3 game
Planets go into CIVIII
You build a city:
-->To manage the city, you go into a Sim City 4 type view
----->To manage the people, you go into a Sims type view
--------->To manage the properties, you go into a Sim Ant view
You build and move, and attack units:
-->Attack: you are either placed into a
----->(a)Starcraft type view
----->(b)Battlefield 1942 view
----->(c)Medical War view
-->You attack with a special unit
----->Ghost Recon!
----->Air Combat Simulator
----->Etc.
You Spy on an enemy
-->NOLF 2 style action
To expose a spy:
-->Law and Order
A city is in disorder:
-->Rainbow 6 (3) action.
-->Must pacify population with:
----->(a)that dancing mat thingy
----->(b)Americal Idol: the game
As you can tell, I have way too much energy.

A few years ago, a French video games magazine claimed that Sid Meier, Will Wright (Sim City), and some other famous game developpers had teamed up to make this kind of game...
But it was April's Fools day

MattH;
I just placed almost the exact same post this morning in the Civ 4 thread. Couldn't agree with you more. I want a hybrid Civ game under the tree next year!

Oh, yeah... I just read it now. Didn't mean to copy you or anything.
I just wonder what would come next if a game like that was completed

Hey Matt;
I just took a second look at your wish list...wow. That would be an epic game. But wouldn't it be great if all of these various types of expansions were developed over the course of the next few years? Gamers could pick the Expansions they wanted to buy based on their gaming preferences. It also seems that Civ III or a Civ type game would perhaps be the best platform from which to launch these types of integrations. Just a thought.

It sounds cool, and I personally wouldn't mind a game lasting months or even years if it had that kind of detail. I don't know if my computer could handkle it though, the requirments could would be a *****.

Actually, I was quite serious .
And about the game bieng 'too long'...
Whats wrong with an epic game? just so the action was well spaced out, and you could pause and save, a good game could continue forever.

I personally would have liked to see a civ game that started at 4000BC and went all the way to galactic domination. Of course people would obviously say, you would be managing too many cities!!. But there is a way to deal with this. At some point in the game, with some tech discovered,you would build improvement in groups of cities at once (i.e. build 10 fusion plants in 10 cities at once, etc.) Terrain could change to a more abstract as the game goes on. At the same time your city production is handled in groups of cities at once, workers would build all roads in a city at once etc. (the amount of work done in a city could be handle as percentages now, i.e. 30% hills mined etc. with commerce, shields etc in that city (now connected to the others in its grouping) dictated by these percentages. this would reduce micromanaging was the game went on.
As far as tech advancement and units in the future. It cant be too difficult to come up with possible advances and units by looking at all the sci-fi stuff out there (no eco-terrorists please) but energy weapons and shields, antimatter bombs etc. could be used. Just change names when necessary for copyright reasons (i.e call a space ship a comet destroyer instead of Star Destroyer, etc.)
