The Confederacy of Scorpiania
"Why change a solid foundation?"
Civil Rights: Few
Economy: Reasonable
Political Freedoms: Good
The Confederacy of Scorpiania is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its quiet, industrious population of 7 million are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.
The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Religion & Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 33%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Cheese Exports.
Voting is compulsory. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. Scorpiania's national animal is the scorpion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Scorp.
Scorpiania is ranked 17th in the region and 35,779th in the world for Happiest Citizens.

OK, uh, yeah, I know you guys know a lot, but enough with the advice on how not to lose a post. Of course I know how to safeguard my posts so I don't lose them. It's like knowing that you should save your Quark document every ten minutes. Just because you know it doesn't mean you always do it.

Merely click the link that says "Tired of life in [region name here]? Then move to a new region!" Then type "Apolyton" into the search box.

The People's Republic of Gerkastan is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 372 million are ruled with an iron fist by the corrupt, dictatorship government, which oppresses anyone who isn't on the board of a Fortune 500 company. Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Commerce and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 66%. A small but healthy private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Roads are often backed up with round-the-clock construction crews., flash floods that dams could have controlled regularly ravage small towns in mountain valleys, the institution of marriage is held sacred and strictly enforced, and convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Gerkastan's national animal is the bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the ruble.
Gerkastan is ranked 92,414th in the world for Happiest Citizens.

The Disputed Territories of Grumatopia/Al-Mastif
Civil Rights: Unheard of
Economy: Struggling
Political Freedoms: Unheard of
The Disputed Territories of Grumatopia-Al-Mastif is a tiny, devout nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 6 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Religion & Spirituality and Defence are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 58%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.
Elections have been outlawed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Grumatopia-Al-Mastif's national animal is the slave girl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the grumastif.
The Borderlands of Kucilaande
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Very Strong
Political Freedoms: World Benchmark
The Borderlands of Kucilaande is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 6 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Defence. Income tax is unheard of. A robust private sector is led by the Retail, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Gambling industries.
Voting is voluntary and young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables. Crime is crippling. Kucilaande's national animal is the parrot, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the banana.

The Holy Empire of Heressonia
"Give me these disputed territories or else"
UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Strong
Political Freedoms: Average
Location: Apolyton
[Heressonia is a UN Member]
The Holy Empire of Heressonia is a huge, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 213 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 45%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.
Citizens wishing to be parents must undertake a series of gruelling tests to evaluate their capabilities, citizens are expected to be proficient in at least five languages, the government extracts trade concessions from poor nations in exchange for humanitarian aid, and elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate. Heressonia's national animal is the frog and tortoise, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the heressolid.
Heressonia is ranked 21st in the region and 47,667th in the world for Largest Manufacturing Sector.

The Dictatorship of Marijuania2
"I'm too old for this"
UN Category: Capitalist Paradise
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Thriving
Political Freedoms: Some
The Dictatorship of Marijuania2 is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 5 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Defence, and Social Welfare. Income tax is unheard of. A healthy private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Arms Manufacturing.
Crime is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Marijuania2's national animal is the fish, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the baby.

The Queendom of PlanetTamarania is a huge, devout nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Major archaeological findings are frequently bulldozed to make way for new buildings, main battle tanks stalk the woods of PlanetTamarania in search of blubsblogs, skateboarding is punishable by heavy fines, and only the rich can afford the latest medical innovations. The Dominion of Agent Smith Land is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, cynical population of 5 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.
The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 28%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.
Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low. Agent Smith Land's national animal is the three toed sloth, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dollar.
