UNOFFICIAL: Where do we go?
I know it's the holiday season, but we've been sitting on a turn for 4-5 days now, with no input from our MoDA (Wise Ass). Since there has been debate in the save turn thread already, here's a mere unofficial poll about where we move in the next turn...

West to the plains (people may get confused where the west is. So Loc, you should write the terrain type besides the location so that everything can be clearly.
(I just dont belive anyone would vote to go to the sand dunes (the guy who voted north west)

If people can't recognize the terrain type they shouldn't even be voting
I think the problem with this poll is that we probably want to give orders that will allow Pedrunn to play for several turns. If we just say 'Go West' (how did the rest that song go again? ) he has no clue on how to continue once he's on the Plains tile. So I say 'Go West and then to the Forest tile' (we could write our own lyrics ) if the terrain in the west is bad, go north-west if the terrain is good (following the river). Maybe that's what the north-west vote is about too?

Who was that? Pet Shop Boys?
Yeah im sure that NW vote means west then north-west (or wherever the river goes) We should see whats beyond the plains tile to the west and then see where to go. Theres a good chance theres a grassland+river to the NW so lets just "Goooooo west... and then decide..." If its a grassland+river to the NW i say we should settle on that instead of the forest.

Village People
Together, we will go our way, together we will settle some day.
Together, pitchforks in our hands, together we will make our plans.
One day, we will fly so high, enemies kiss their ass goodbye.
Together we will start Civ new, together this is what we'll doooo...
Go west, we can settle there.
Go west, lots of open air.
Go west to begin Civ new.
Go west, this is what we'll do.
Go west, sun in winter time.
Go west, we will do just fine.
Go wes t where the flags are blue .
Go west, this and more we'll do.
(more verses if we keep going west )

The first step is go west. To make it clear just one tile and when we are there we can decide again.

Actual where to found our first city is a very important decision and how much turns we waste to find the right spot. The forest is a good spot but the question is if the surrounding of the plain tile in the west is a better spot. If we are moving on the river we can go two tiles away from our starting position in the current turn. So we can move west on the plain tile first and see what is there or we can directly move on the forest and waste there an half move in order to found our first city there. Therefore we can first see what is around the city, is there no better tile we take the forest but can you tell me what kind of tile is better then the forest tile H Tower?
Afterwards the city is founded, then it will take a few turns until the first unit is build, we already agree that this unit is used for early scouting (I think), were to move the early scout unit is less improtant as we want to get to know something about our surounding and not to find a good place for our first city, our decission here at the beginning could have a deep impact on the later game.

Just to be contrary I think I would go east. Seriously though the terraine looks greener in that direction plus it will only take a possible 203 moves to find a good city place where as those sand dunes will take 3-4 moves to get away from.

does the game really shade things more and less green based on the surronding terrain? that's so cool!

2 or 3 I would think...
How close and which side of the equator are we? If we're in the southern hemisphere, then I say east, and then follow the river down to the temperate regions.

This thread is obsolete
Stil what you want is impossible because to settle you need 1 whole move and a move in the river cost 1/2 move (oppose to the regular 1 cost per move in land) . Therefore we only have 1/2 move and we can only walk ove river. Although you can wait a whole new turn to do it. And you can vote fo this in the new thread:
All People who voted in this thread please vote here

Lucky indeed. I only changed about 6 words. It's all about settling the west anyway.
