I played two times, once poka and once 21. I lost 5 Euro both times.
Why do you write Matoula with an "h" at the end?
Btw, where are you from exactly Chris? I mean which part of Greece?
Does anyone know how to play preference (prefa)?

BTW there was a difference of opinions.
In 31 (or 21) WHEN do you bet?
Do you bet when all the one cards are layed on the table?
Or do you bet after mana has revieled all of his/hers cards except the one?

You bet once.
21 is played very differently than 31 which you describe. In 21 the mana put a sum on the table, deals one hidden card each and then plays one-on-one with each of the players, hidden to the players and open to himself. Each player adds or removes his bet to the money pile. If at the end of the turn the money is tripled, a final round is dealt, called "stouki" where there is no limit on your bet (whereas before you could only double or halve your prevoius bet) and after that mana is the next player. If the money is all lost, if it is the first round, the mana has the right to put some more and do another round, otherwise mana goes to the next. Anything between that and the same mana continues. We play without figures, 5 and 6, aces count for 11 and there is no 14.

The only Greek person I know, and I only know him by his behavior in running this forum, is MarkG. And if he is representative of Greeks at large then I must thank God we don't have any Greeks hereabouts.

Hearts, or Spades. Hey! It's card game related.
Spades players seem to outnumber Hearts players.
I vote Hearts.
