Solver, in 2004 you are members of the EU. Get used to scrutiny

The human rights violations were from EU sources

We dont get Russian propaganda or US propaganda (well we do with the last but we just laught at it)

Anyway, I'm sure things will smooth out between Baltics and Russian minorities.

There were also major human rights violations from Slovakia to its hungarian minorities and from Hungary vice versa.

For quite some time Slovakia was banned from etnering the EU because of that and because of democratic deficiencies, Glad to see it overcame.

Lithuania and Estonia have far better relations with Russia than Latvia, even though there are more Russians in Latvia. But Russia was against all three countries joining the EU and NATO.

I admit all 3 baltic countries are a bit confused in my mind.

Maybe it was about one country and not all.

Anyway to more happy things, Lithuanian names all end like Greek ones (-is -as etc)

weird

Greek names seem to end with either los or something else to me .

I don't know about Greek ones, but Lithuanian ones are usually with a meaning.

Yup. My surname (Þemaitis) means "Samogitian" for example. Lithuanian male names (and words also) ends with "is", "as", "us". Female names ends with "a", "ë".

But why are our names so similar in ending?

It wouldbe interesting to chec this out.

Is your language heavily influenced by Latin (which is infuenced by Greek)

Not that heavily, I think. Our languages don't have too many similar words with Roman languages.

It's vice versa. The Roman language is influenced by Lithuanian, which is fpr all practical purposes slang Sanskrit, the mother of all IndoEuropean languages.

I'll ignore the allegations of mistreatment of minorities in Lithuania. just a buit of trivia - the second largest privately owned bank was run, until 1999, by a UKRAINIAN WOMAN, although the owners were Lithuanian corporates and institutions.

Not that I should care as a married man, but hmmm... no!

What Vilnius Bank investment?.. I seem to recall having Vilnius Bank shares, but SE Banken made an offer at 50 LTL, and I had none at the time, and now they completely own it. That was like end of 2000

They are there - you mean the allegations? Geez, there are allegations just about anything, i.e. Paiktis is a victim of a freak ball-shaving accident

Sanskrit is the mother of all IE languages.

Nice work almost at the same time nazi ww2 SS veterans marched through streets of your capital and no one even said a word about this. And you think we should be happy when we see that people of our nationality treats like crap in your countries.
