Civ2 Load Failure
After several months off the screen I tried to start a Civ2 game. Double clicking the icon gave me the following error message;
WinG Load Failure Error:2
I have not seen this before. I reinstalled the original Civ2 program plus Conflicts and Fantastic worlds. At each stage the same error message came up. I am running Windows 98 and have made no upgrades to the operating system since the last successful running of Civ2.
Any pointers will be gratefully received.

Because Civ is not a "Registered Program" in the sense that it has no entries in the Windows Registry - Windows does not know that WinG is being used and will allow other applications to wipe it out when they are uninstalled ...

I don't think WinG is installed during the Civ2 install process, but is usually in Windows previous to installation so it doesn't come up to much.

But uninstall utilities still have permission to remove it? Seems strange.
