This is a global tragedy for all of Western Civilization.
ATG was the Ultimate True Player, laying the smackdown on anybody in his path. There has got to be a masculine, intelligent, spirited actor that can pull of this part. I can't even think of anyone off the top of my head.
Wait who is the guy from American Pyscho? He would be PERFECT.

I think DiCaprio could make a good Alexander. He assumed the throne as a youth and died not more than 30 years old. Alexander should be "boyish".
As for the sexuality issue, as MarkG would (or should) know the ancient Greeks made no distinction between homosexuality and heterosexuality. It was common for men to be initiated into sex by older men. Hence Alexander closest male friend Haiphaston (sp?) was also his lover.
Later Alexander married Roxanne but there were children iirc.

Sava,
I saw American Pyscho and it was a brilliant movie, and Bale did a good job.
Urban,
Personally I would like to be well rounded Bale's characters are. He seems to have it all. (Well of course I wouldn't want that whole psycho killer thing or deceitfulness that he has).

That's just his characters, not himself.
If you were a scriptwriter, you could also mould yourself into a god-like character as well.

Once DiCaprio can shed his pretty boy titanic image, he might be a good actor...

I'd rather prefer a good actor for the part.

He already is. He is incredibly accomplished and has an Academy Award nomination (for his excellent performance in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape').

well, in my school days i've been mainly taught about Alexander's character and achievements. not his sexuality(e.g., what really matters when it comes to such people )
but you should say all of the above to the australian who put a big title in an article talking about the "first bisexual action hero"...

A propos,
what are the other Alexander movies that have been made by now?
I remember I saw one with a good actor of the "old school". Must have been the period when Hollywood was making movies about ancient romans and greeks etc by the bucket.
This tread seems to be returning now. They also plan to make a movie about the Spartans.
Only the Athenians are left out

I don't think any Alexander movies have been made - except for a few C grade efforts for muscle men.
The scale of it is too great to do except on a huge budget - or using the latest technology - which is probably why its being done now.
Its a great story - one of the greatest ever - hope the films are good.

AH,
I have seen a movie that was a superproduction (for that period's era) and the role was played by a very well known actor of Hollywood. (which I dont know).
I also dont know the title of that movie.
Someone with a better net conection than mine could search the net for it though

I know the one you mean - Victor Mature or Kirk Douglas or someone equally in appropriate starred.
It was a B or C grade budget effort.
If the battles could be simulated like in Twin Towers, the Alexander movie could be huge.
