It probably won't work, but not because of this reason. Do remember that mailing lists are passed around and merged, so if you can put lots of worthless address in the lists it adds up.
The reason is spammers never use real return addresses. Most of the time, it is fake. Sometimes, it is the address of an open relay or similar 'Net computers. Bouncing stuff to a bad address will just cause you grief, because they'd bounce back to you.
