Where would you least want to live?
Here are some times and places from 20th century that were, by all accounts, pretty crappy times to live. However, let's assume that you are, well, you, with the age, sex, nationality, religion, political views, level of education and relative level of wealth you have now. Where would you least want to live for a five-year period?

Does this mean where would I want to live, or NOT want to live? If it's the NOT one, then Rwanda, since white boy like me would have tough time to survive anyway in those horror days, but if it's where I could live, it'd be Germany, since I'd propably survive..

It's the NOT want. The word 'least', you know?

I voted for Rwanda.
But actually, the only country that I have ever promised myself that I would never live in, is the USA - ofcourse, I didn't give much thought to living in these sorts of war-torn countries.

Oh, and, where's Sierra Leone?
Figure it'd be an obvious choice, being ranked the worst place to live in by the U.N.

I went with Cambodia, BTW. Pol Pot's magical wonderland was something else, from what I've read.

Cambodia, was a pretty easy choice after all as i would have the same education etc as in reality. I've got glasses (well OK, contact lenses but I wouldn't have those in the 70s) and that was a reason enough to be killed.
The percentage of killed in Cambodia 74-79 should be higher compared to the other alternatives according to my 'guesstimates'.

Russia 1917-1922 wasn´t all that bad. But the rest of them are equally bad IMO.
Where´s the banana option?

I think the USSR during (and just after) WW2 would be worse than Germany during WW2, they lost a far greater number of people.

The Soviet Union and Third Reich would have me killed for being gay, Cambodia for being at university. Since I end up dead in all of them, I'd say they were all equally bad.
As usual Boddington's logic escapes me. As a university student you'd think he'd find Cambodia the worst, but of course he chooses Cuba...
Your comment on Germany not being too bad is sickening.

Well as long as you're not a kulak or living in any rural area or a bad habit of thinking for yourself I think it would be a walk in the park.
Maybe something for Boddingtons.

With nationality only (belgian) it would be Rwanda, 1994-1999.
With nationality and religion (belgian protestant) it would be: Spanish Low Countries during Duke of Alba's governorship 1567-1573
Quote:

... in 1567 he was appointed governor-general of the Low Countries. There, his arrogance, tyranny, and merciless suppression of civil and religious opposition were so extreme that even his employers found his cruelty unacceptable.

Polpot dictatorship was probably the worst ever, even more evil than Hitler I would dare say
