How long will 'Poly last?
So how long? It seems to be going strong, with lots of new posters registering. I guess the future strength of new posters will depend on the future for TBS though........and I'm not sure the trend is a favourable
one. I wonder if Mark/Dan might share some long term thoughts, if indeed they have any.

Gee. Civ isn't going to die anytime soon. Not within 10 years. Then there will be chances to cover other stuff, or at least turn the site into a major off topic forum. So it will live forever .

Even if something happens to the site. The community will remain in other places.

Already predicting the death of Poly? Herecy!
Err... well... This won't last forever, but when will it end is not that intriguing as a question, unless you really want that to happen. Maybe when we all die and our children think that only farts come to a shack like this.

Notice that it's an indirect conclusion with a question mark, Spikey.

well, Moo3 is coming out "soon" the same with Ron. And I'm sure that Mark and Dan will find something else to cover eventually. (As if RoN and Moo3 isn't enough)

I can imagine an 80 year old Ming still reaching for his banning rod. And OW_42 will be OW_82.
Hang on... That was yesterday.

Of course if they ever made this an OT forum we'd have let OT posts count again.

A long time I hope, would be funny if there in 25 years would be the same posters here of course with a lot of comings and goings but still people you would have followed through life.

Seeing as the Internet is fairly new itself. I´d say that Poly will stay online for a long time yet. I wouldn´t be surprised if Poly is still here in 2012.

I would guess 2-3 years... one day soon Mark and Dan are going to grow tired of paying the bills and even if they want to pay the bills, if MOO3 doesn't succeed or we don't get their community then... Civ3 has 2-4 years to go... and MOO3 might (if it's good) allow Apolyton to last 1-2 years past Civ III's 2-4... so I'll predict.
Dead by 2005 If mark/dan lose interest
Dead by 2007 if MOO3 doesn't hit
Dead by 2009 if MOO3 hits and there is no MOO4/Civ4
But Eli's statement about the community survivng elsewhere will probably be true everyone will move to civfanatics/counterglow/Historic-Battles/etc
... I wonder how many posts we'll all have in 5 years
Ming will be up to 30K

I might make Emperor in five years. But if the site dies at just the right time, it might break me off from the Internet. I'm a lost soul.

Haha. Apy a match making site? There aren't enough girls on this site to fill a small economy car.

Can you imagine Ming and rah moderating a matchmaking forum?
Nah, Poly will live forever. My grandchildren will be playing Civ XII.

The answer is quite simple, really.
Civilizations come and go, but Apolyton is forever.

There are many different Games comming up all the time. Civlization related ones so the probability of Apolyton closing down is very narrow. As new games are made new topics and threads will be formed making this site immortal. Well at least I hope.
