The new French government wishes to make the following announcement;

After close and serious talks France is happy to announce that an alliance between France, Russia and USA have been signed. This alliance is foremost an defensive alliance.

Queen Victoria disapproves of this spear-rattling and withdraws all diplomatic proposals.

No spear-rattling at all dear Queen. It is after all a defensive alliance

Japan Turn 1
WAR!!!! Spanish-Japanese war has begun!

Today after a Japanese refusal to pay the Spanish crown, Spain declaed waron the empire of the rising sun. Nearby Japanese forces were quickly brought to the scene and landings have begun near Manila, the capital of the Spanish Philippines colony. We urge all nearby ships, particularly the nearby French fleet to withdraw from the Philippines in light of this shocking turn of events. The Japanese Empire hopes this war will be short and that peace in the pacific can once again be restored, once Spain abandons her aggression and stops trying to revive her decaying empire with the use of demands from other empires. Japan will not be victimized by Spanish imperialism.

Btw i have a question about the strenght of the units in this scenario.

I played the French in singleplayer, and landed 6 artillery (cannon?) pieces outside Bankok. The native infantry killed all of them when i attacked without taking any losses at all!!!

And when i tried something simmilar both in China and Spain, the same thing happened.

Is it really so that you would need 10+ artillery/cannon units to take a single AI controlled city in this scenario?

First, Bangkok is the toughest native city.
Second, veteran rifle artillery (just about 12months of research) can kill everything without taking lots of losses. So just await rifle artillery, and you can take every city you want.

Reichskanzler Otto von Bismarck to the Reichstag:

Today I have the great pleasure to tell you that an alliance has been signed between the Empire of the Rising Sun und the German Reich. Our two mighty empires shall stand together and - I promise that this will not happen - fall together. I have been assigned to declare this to the Representatives of the German People and to the world.

I would like to play in a game of this scenario and I think having a human Independents player is more realistic as it means the Independent civ isn't just another barbarian civ to be carved up.

Also, if I control the Independents I would let go of some colonies that are obviously in the sphere of influence of another empire...like the Phillipines for instance.

Actually, I am against the Independents being playable. First of all, the civ has neither cultural, nor geographical, nor racial foundation (imagine your empire made up of Siam, all of South America and Italy...). Also Spain was on its way out bigtime and thus, imho, is made to be carved up.

British Turn
Birmingham Daily:
*Colonists of the Crown needed to escape from leaking ship off the coast of Djibouti. British Sepoys landed to protect civilians. No offense ment to France-the ship has been hastily repaired and will be on its way with civilians and sepoys right away.
*A chinese warlord was defeated Royal Armed Forces north of Hong Kong.
*Japanese invasion fleet spotted off the coast of the Philipines. Queen Victoria suggests to the nipponese General Staff to tightly control its armed forces to avoid massacres.

The english High Society is known to have a self-esteem as high as this picture is big! They spend their time reaping the benefits of an empire where the sun never sets, hunting big game and drinking tea.

Russian convoys set out to do business with Europe, including the establishment of trade routes with England. Russia hopes for economic cooperation with Germany and the British Empire, and wishes to stress that the Franco-Russio-American Entente is purely defensive.

Meanwhile, Russian forces have began their march on the Balkans.

Japan Turn 3
Today the bombardment of the Philippines began as Japanese cannons and warships attacked the city of Manila and heavily damaged her defences. Further reinforcements arrived in the form of new cannons.

Textiles and Tools were brought to Hanoi from the Japanese home islands, establishing new trade.

Declared war on independents after an invasion from Italy. The artillery sent was destroyed.

French Copper and machinery to New York
French Machinery to Boston

The British colonists that escape from leaking ship off the coast of Djibouti will be assisted in any way the regional government can offer.

However, the British troops must leave the area as soon as possible. And any attacks on the tribes to the south will be considered an interference. They are governed by France and any attacks on them will not be tollerated.

The alliance with USA formalized. Our Russian friends need to adjust the relations
