How does population work?
How does it calculate your nations population? Do issues and acts affect it, or does it just grow over time?

I think it just grows. Mines up to 7 million though, so I'm not complaining

I believe it is a reflection of your country's politics, the time it has been around, and the edicts that you issue.

I've been playing for about a week now and my population has more than tripled in that time, from 5 million (granted, not a high number to begin with) to 16 million Is it growing this rapidly for others as well or am I just a brilliant leader?

Everyone starts from 5 Million. From there, growth is based on your country's politics, the time it has been around, and the edicts that you issue, just like Osweld said. If you're kind, or don't allow people to leave the country, expect rapid growth.

Okay, didn't know everyone started with 5 million - I've seen countries with like 200 million pop ( ), so I figured that that was pretty unlikely...
Hmmm, rather odd since my Political Freedoms and Civil Rights were until today Outlawed and my Economy was Imploded in the first 5 days (now Basket Case)...
Oh well, everybody wants to join the Collective... (and even if you don't want to: resistance is futile )

I think population is based solely on time, as my friend and I have very different politics, but both our nations populations have grown at the same rate.
From 5-10 million, it grows in increments of 1 million, 10-20 is 2 million, and so on, so it seems.

Mine seems to have gone faster, but then again, I'm not sure, you may be right. I didn't have time to play every day last week, so I missed a few days... If you're right, I should have 18 million tommorow and 20 million on Friday...

it just grows like a normal population
crime and things like organ donation may affect how fast it grows. I have allowed hospitals to pay for organs . Now kids routinely sell their kidney's to pay for college.
I think I'm at 32 million right now.

So if you want a high pop do the oppostie. I wonder if legalising nudity, makes men flock to the country

And requiring/allowing Nudity would presumably lead to more sex? Damn hope so...

...lots of men flocking to the country?
Wouldn't that lead to an abundance of men? Lots of men walking around looking at... other men, the original male inhabitants going "this sucks..." and leaving, and all the immigrant naked men going, "there's too many men" and going back?

I'm at 64 million right now.
Of course I've had this Euthansia thing come up again today. I suppose I could have dismissed it, but I want to try to improve civil rights even higher if I can. Although lately it hasn't gotten any higher, hmm.
