Unemployment extension passes!
Huzzah! And it's the Senate version, 13 additional weeks everywhere in the US! YAY!
Oh that is a load off my mind. I'm down to my last week of unemplyment.
Gonna go file my extension tomorrow.
At the last minute, the Dem's sponsored a bill to extend benefits to 26 weeks. While taking a year off with pay might be nice, I'll take the 13 weeks now and worry about the next 13 in three months.
Hurray for the internet, which passed the news along and created an underground movement to embarress the Republicans into passing the extensions. Democracy still lives in the US of A.

Why should he do that when it only passed because they were shamed into voting for it?

What Borris said.
Okay, they aren't smelly and probably aren't bastards, but they're definately evil.

My goodness, the Republicans are actually signing onto the Zribbler plan for economic recovery--put more money into the hands of consumers! Next big step: balance the budget.

Mind you, the Republicans were up against the deadline, too. Hope you can find work soon Che... good luck!
I still maintain that the plan is too little too late.

not to be snide or cut your joy short, but have you been searching for a job? In your shoes, i'd be happier with employment...just wondering.

you leftists crack me up...
Chegitz is a smart man... he can definently get a job somewhere. I think he should be ashamed of himself that he even reached the initial unemployment deadline. A man like him should be able to get a job.

yeah, Speer... being unemployed has little to do with skill, intelligence, or ability... it's about the willingness of employers to pony up money to find a job for you. Go take a sociology course so you can learn about poverty, and unemployment. 90% of the people that fall below the poverty line and collect welfare only do so on a temporary basis. The conservative assertion that unemployed people are too lazy, stupid, or unskilled to find jobs is ignorant. Get a CLUE!

AS, you're a *****. Unemployment can befall anyone, no matter how smart they are. To say they should be ashamed is a pretty rotten thing to say, but coming from a fascist, I suppose not surprising. I can't wait until you get hit by a layoff and have to go on the dole so you can eat your words.
You should be ashamed for being a crapweasel.

Monster.com anyone? We've put a band - aid on the problem, now lets fix it with some real economic plans from Bush.
Was I just dreaming?

apparently, I'm the only one with respect for Chegitz...
To summarize all of you... Chegitz is a weakling... he is staying unemployed because of forces outside his control... he has no ability to combat these forces and actually get a job... so let's cheer that he is getting benefits for a little while more!
now me... yeah it's tough that he's unemployed but he is clearly a smart, capable man who should be able to get a job. even if it is a just a part-time job, it is still a job. I have confidence in Chegitz abilities and he will get a job. all it takes is a little more effort and little less patronizing coddling from you leftists.
and Sava... I live in ****ing philly so don't tell me about the first and the fifteenth and unemployment and what not... and take it from me as someone who sees such things far more often than you ever do... people don't give a damn no more... people don't try. they just want to smoke so they don't try to achieve.
thanks

that's nice... you have respect for CHe, yet call him a weakling... usually when you insult someone, it means you have no respect for them
Just because you only see one aspect of poverty in your own little world, doesn't mean there aren't millions in the US that suffer from unemployment and poverty and don't live in urban slums. Try watching 60 Minutes some time... they had a great piece about poverty in Ohio today. Hard working people that can't find jobs because of the economics of this recession.

Everyone here has shown respect for Chegitz but you.
Anyone can become unemployed, and it's a lot more than a simple matter of "he's a smart man so he should have a job".
It's a very very tough market to get a job in, people can go unemployed for extended periods of time no matter how qualified they are.

Bullshit, AS...you said he should be ashamed for even going on unemployment in the first place. Nobody here is expecting Che to be on it forever. You're just, as usual, full of sanctimonious judgement about people of whom you are completely ignorant.

Albert Speer, he has actually found jobs in his field but not were he leaves and they dont want someone from far away but close, even when he tries to tell them that he will pay all the costs of moving. At least this is what he told everyone.

**** you Albert Speer. I had thought even you couldn't sink any lower, but once again you have. Sometimes, even when you are ready willing and able to find a job it just isn't there. The economy has been really bad and unemployment has been way up, and that can leave people unemployed even when they are trying hard. You don't know Chegitz, or his situation, so you don't know what his capabilites are or how hard he has been trying, so you are in no position to criticize his efforts.
