Slashdot
Slashdot just linked Apolyton as a front-page news story.
I think the server's gonna be pummeled shortly.
(Meant to post this here but posted in the OT too)

Re: Slashdot
Oh, thats unfortunate. Hopefully the server doesnt break or else I'll have to go to sleep.... That would definately be most unfortunate.

In Britain we have a verb "to Murray", after Murray Walker, a legendary grand prix commentator whose pronouncement that x could not lose now was the kiss of death.

What is the normal number of visitors around the time the Americans wake up, and can Apolyton handle 2x that number?

actually, our top number of visitors on the Settler was yesterday and we were going fine(after of course all the anti-server-load measures had been added)

Yeah, good work on those additions.
Out of curiosity, how many people were on yesterday?

Yeah that was the race that sealed his reputation.........Mansell could see the damned finish line, it was gutting.
Hmm, and it seems Mark may have Murrayed things after all.....it took me 3 attempts to post this.

'Poly's working perfectly for me, and has been all day.
I'm not sure what the point of this post is, maybe just ....

He's more known for his stupifying comments:
"Do my eyes deceive me, or is Senna's Lotus sounding rough?"
"He's obviously gone in for a wheel change. I say obviously because I can't see it"
"And there's a dry line appearing in the tunnel" (pause while he realises what he's just said) "Obvious really as it has a roof"
'Nigel Mansell had a problem with the wheel-nut on his Williams, then he went on to win brilliantly for Ferrari!'
"and this is the third placed car about to lap the second placed car"
*Threadjack over*

They do come up quite a lot.
Another classic Murray moment that is always showed is when he asks Nigel Mansell what he hurt in an accident when he quite obviously has a huge black eye. Murray, true to style, then pokes him in it whilst pointing towards it. A classic.

well it was 740 so far... but at the moment I got that "too many connections error". I remember it was ~928 that was the highest.. that was at Civ3 launch... I expected it to be more than 1000 but I guess the server couldn't keep up than Lets see how the new one holds on now.

Yes, they are available somewhere. Markos has posted them before.

Try looking through old threads in the archive. I think Markos posts them regularly but the threads often sink quite quickly.
Maybe not enough +1 potential in them

Let us know if we beat that record. Perhaps when the other parts of the review are released.

That wasn't a black eye, it was a bump on Mansell's forehead, which Walker touched whilst trying to point it out.
