The Armed Forces of the South-East Asian Treaty organization have not and will not bow to tyranny. China is responsible for the deaths of several hundred troops, the lifetime imprisonment of a hundred more, and the destruction of millions of US dollars in material, all in neutral ground.
The Organization refuses to bow to Chinese aggression and militarism. Already the Air Force and Fleet are prepared to strike against the Chinese in Hainan and at the fleet nearby. Only China can end this spiraling sequence of events by issuing a formal apology and a special indemnity. If done, SEATO will agree to the peaceable neutrality of Hainan, and war will be averted.

This is all nonsense. Hainan is Chinese sovereign territory. SEATO shouldn't be there in the first place. The Arab League supports any Chinese action, as long as it is confined in and around Hainan island. This incident should not escalate into all out war. Calm down.

SEATO is being completely rational. China, in addition to violating its cease-fire with the US, has rejected negotiations. The only reason the island was occupied by SEATO forces was to watch over the demilitarization.
AND THEY WERE DESTROYED. For what? For monitoring the end of a war of aggression sponsored by China. If the Arab League wishes to ally with totalitarianism, let it simply declare its communist revolt, and end all this admonishing.
PS I'd still like an apology

And who gave you permission to enter Chiense territory? thyere was no UN resolution to supprt your actions. SEATO has taken the law into its own hands something it has no right to do.

Is it there territory? Why should an unoccupied island be regarded as sovereign Chinese territory? But, assuming you ARE correct, and that is Chinese land, then the seas around the Philippines are SEATO territory. The presence of your destroyer north of Manila is completely uncalled for.
The UN can never be used to combat communism and totalitarianism so long as China and the USSR are holding permanent security council seats. Therefore, it is awfully nice to be the big bully, and crush democracy through "A desire for multi-lateralism."

South East Asia Today
In response to the unprovoked massacre of ANZAC and Philippino troops on Hainan Island this month, the SEATO navy engaged in several maneuvers, resulting in the destruction of a Chinese destroyer in the the waters off Malaya and a submarine South-West of the Philippines.
Secretary Robert Chancellor stated today
"We will not bow to tyranny, and those boys on Hainan shall not have their murderers walk free. Therefore, today I sign into action a bill to liberate Vietnam. With the aid of our allies in NATO and the USA, we will make Vietnam a free and democratic nation."
In other news, India, supported by several African and South American countries, declared war on China in support of SEATO. Inside sources say the likely cause was the transfer of several technologies to the Indian Armed Forces.
Parades marched through the streets of Manila, Bangkok, and Sydney, while rallies were held in Wellington, Jakarta, and Singapore.

Just look at any map of the world, and you will see that island as part of China.

Iron Curtain- Public statement
I agree with that, emugod. Does my impartiality make me a stalinis ,people? I think not. Remember my stance during the Iran-Carribean crises. You brought this on your self, Aussies. I'd say step down, and no harm's done.
As for the apolgy, since Its the last chance for me for meat and wine before the lent and I'm half drunk already, my bad (with reservations) and don't push me further, ok?

I never used that word, specifically. I only stated what was obvious to me, at the time. Perhaps I was a bit too hasty, but now that the cheat menu is off limits, I feel safer. That's all.
P.S. Why did you leave Cabul unguarded SEATO? There's no flag on it and the Communists you accuse of bullying you are right next door. If you were really worried about them, you'd be guarding your borders first. Or are you just offering Cabul to the Communists? At what price? Hainan?
As for me, well, I am a pacifist.

I tell the USSR this, touch Kabul, and there will be trouble. I fear not the Soviet Union, unless it decides to back China, which by all accounts, it shouldn't.
Unless China wants a trade, or the USSR wants to cut a deal...
OK, if you feel safer, fine. I just did not like it that suddenly you assumed I was a cheater when I posted a screenshot.

Something important has come up, and I must leave tomorrow (Saturday). I've placed an ad in the Players Needed thread, but if no one replies, or you do not hear from me, NATO will direct SEATO's moves (if NATO accepts, otherwise, it'll have to be AI)

Iron Chancelor, if Cabul is up for sale, I offer you 100 gold (negotiable) and unrestricted passage through the Suez Canal. Plus a non agression/ mutual protection pact, though we 'll have to PM each other for the details on that

The USSR will not allow you to occupy Kabul, tanelorn. We will occupy it if we feel you are threatening the USSR with your daring attempts to undermine our relations with SEATO.

No offense intended towards the Soviet Union. The Arab League acknoweldges the fact that you Soviets have a say in Afganistan affairs. If you feel in some way threatened by such a move, we will respect your oppinion. The Arab league saw Cabul as a way to improve our relationship with SEATO, which have been somewhat strained recently, due to minor missunderstandings. If you can talk it out with SEATO first, its ok with the League. If not, the offer to SEATO stands, as long as you don't disagree. Really, the notion of a 3rd world coalition contesting the power of a major superpower such as you is somewhat ludicrus...

I'm glad you think so, because in the Iron Curtain PBEM? at CFC the USSR was contested by a minor power. I simply wish to avoid this from happening here as well.

I am all for peace and prosperity but don't feel too placated, SEATO already had the guts to go after China, irrespective of whatever justification. Politics is all about who rubs whose back, after all. No offense intended towards either party...
So, are you posting your save or what?

Emu, I offer you Kabul for two Tu-95 bombers, two Su-15 fighters, plus 184 gold for an incidental cost (I had rush-ordered a stinger infantryman)

There is no way I will pay such a price for such a damaged city. But I will pay you the 184 gold for it in chunks over a period of 2 or 3 turns if you will agree.
