Renaming Macross City
All right folks, our capital has changed. Millenia-old Apolyton remains our cultural center, but is no more the home of our institutions.
Macross City is now our capital, and many think we should change its name. This here thread collects all ideas to rename our new capital. Seconoded ideas will be brought to a poll in a few days.
Current ideas so far :
- New Apolyton (seconded)
- Neo Apolyton (seconded)
- Paris
- keep Macross City (seconded)

New Apolyton has been suggested by several people (I think Shiber among them)
I suggest Neo Apolyton, simply because I think "neo" is cooler than plain old "new" (neo is latin for new IIRC)

Neo Apolyton seems good.
I'll miss the gardens of the old Capital... Sigh...

Both Neo and New are good options.

(grumble...)
If I'm re-elected, I plan to keep the Presidential residence in Apolyton, even if the silly Senate has decided to move the conducting of its business to far-off France. I'll just have to travel to France if I want to post a bill. That shouldn't be too bad, considering that the President has almost no reason to ever post a bill anyhow
If the new Palace is in France, I can always just live in the old one here in Apolyton.
If I'm a member of the Senate, I dunno... I'll probably STILL live in Apolyton and just travel to France when I need to post a bill. (yeah, I can be stubborn)

Neo sounds much cooler, I agree.
Reminds me of Neo Tokyo from 'Akira'.

We're entering a more modern age in our empire, why don't we settle for Neo Apolyton?
Grr....not excited about taking the train for France every day. ALP Headquarters is in Ubergorsk, the Senate is in Macross City....too much traveling for me.
We need flight soon! I don't like spending 7 hours on a train each time the Senate convenes!

Neo Tokyo had to be rebuilt after WW3. If we are gonna tempt fate, we should just nuke it ourselves

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?
I was the one to name Macross City. Me. Myself. That is right. I named it. I have been around since this game has started, and now you wish to insult me by removing the only thing in this game I got to name. After being City Planner for two terms, and doing as much for this nation as I have, this is how I am repayed? While we are at it, lets just name every single city BOB and get it over with, or even better yet, change them to numbers in the order in which we either built or aquired the city.
DO NOT DO THIS

sp = Marseille (I think there is no ending "s" in real English, but it's spelled "Marseilles" in Civilizationish)
Godking : I think you should rename another city : you deserved it, and there are tons of good cities which right now have barren names.

Ruby_maser, are you living in the future or am I living in the past? So far as I know there, hasn't been any WW3.

The movie Akira was released in 1988, IIRC. I think its the latter of the two

Historically, yes. My suggestion was that if a French city is going to be our capital, we should call it Paris.

As proud I am of HereItIs, GK must be doubly so about Macross City. DO NOT change. I want to look at the game (when I can, that is) and say to myself - "Macross City? Ah yes, I remember when we first voted the Palace should go there, when it was on the edge of our civilization, even when it was first founded. Why the stories I could tell... No don't run away, come back and let me fill you with the wisdom of the ages... I have so much to say..."
I don't want to look at "Neo Apolytonia" and say "Neo? How kitsch. What happened there? Why oh why did we change the name?"
DO NOT change.

IT IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO RENAME A CITY THAT WAS A MINISTER'S CHOICE!
If we are going to start throwing away laws and rules whats to stop us? What the heck, I'm a senator, I'll just start and run the turnchats with the saves being official.
The rules will mean nothing if no one plays by them.

I'm deaf, I'm deaf!
Must people resort to yelling to make their point? I completely agree that Macross City should not be renamed, I only tossed Paris out as a yet another French jibe/joke.

Godking and others have convinced me through their passionate pleas. Therefore, I will not support the renaming of Macross City to any other title.

Aye, this is another "ME TOO" post. We shouldn't even consider renaming Macross City.
