NEWSFLASH: Three dead in Ubinia
Three people have been shot dead in Ubinia today by an unkown gunman. The victims where seemingly random; a Farmer and his teenage son where shot dead while working their fields at 10:00 AM this morning in the Gunabi district. Three hours later a woman was shot dead while collecting sea shells, also in the Gunabi district. Another shooting was attempted later in the afternoon at 3:45PM in the Tinniki District, but the gunman thankfully missed his target.
This is the first time in Ubinia someone has died from a gun shot, and it is unknown who the gunman was, where he came from, where he obtained a gun, or what his motive was - if there even was one. The people investigating the incident have not ruled out the possibility of state-sponsered terrorism, which in light of recent events seems quite likely.
In response to the shooting Ubinia will be banning all guns, although it is unlikely that this will stop the influx of weapons from foreign lands.

a somewhat similar event happened in Eternal Cold, except that it occured at a shooting range. The gunman was gunned down by others at the shooting range just before the police arrived. Public outrage spurred tighter gun control laws.

It was probably some freaked out cow, high on his newfound freedom enacted from the ban of meat. Next, thing you know they will be wanting the right to vote and the serving of 'humanburgers" to all animals..........

Firearms are not commonly found in East Yorkshire except by the military. Our police force is virtually nonexistent as it is not needed. So the issue of gun control has never been an issue as there is next to no demand for them except for practical uses (farming, for example).

The Federation of Redfern just had the same issue. We're banning all guns too.

Due to a similar attack on The Mad Capitan, all firearms are being banned here as well. Judging by the number of this incident, I can't help but wonder if it's a conspiracy.

Centralis suffered a similar tragedy a few months ago and our response was the same: the illegalisation of guns. Now only the military and some of our police carry them.

The Holy Empire of Sheepsta sends its condolences to the Government of Ubina, and if help is needed they need only ask. The High Council and the Lord Protector will travel to Ubina to attend the serivices for the dead vicitims. Also Mr. Sheep would like to express his support for the local Ubina law for banning meat, as Sheepsta does this evry year during Lent.

The Kingdom of Wine recently had a similar tragedy.
A gunman, which identity was later discovered as John Fritzward, a man with Matrix Theory origins (CFC Region), shoot dead to 3 people, mostly this were random people.
The pistol which was used was bought at the weapon store near the police palace.
Due to this guns were banned by Wine for all but the military and the police, although even if some people asked for the reintegration of the death penalty because of him, Wine decided to stick with its principle of rehibiltation over punishment, and sent them man to the work as a farmer, closely watched by three police agents.

Further progress has been made in the investigation.
Although the gunman has still not been identified, the rifle has been found, it was apparently droped while the gunman was fled the scene of the last shooting.
After comparing it to the pictures in one of the gun catalogs we recieved in the mail, it looks to have been manufactured in Centralis.
I would also like to point out to Centralis that our resolutions where not the same. Guns are banned in Ubinia, period.

Redfern Population Control Squads use SickSticks (seen in minority report) to apprehend the majority of criminals.

You have those? Would you be interested in some good old trade? I would also be interested in neuronic whips or the like.

We have various non-lethal methods of apprehending criminals, which we are perfectly willing to trade. Be careful with SickSticks, however, they make an awful mess...

This is not all that surprising; weapons produced by CMI, our national armaments corporation, are widely recognised as being of high quality, and many people purchase them for sporting purposes. If you can identify the gunman, we may be able to identify when and where he purchased it, unless he acquired it from an illicit dealer.

Then we evidently have some difference in opinion about the benefits of an armed police and miltiary.
