"Nothin' Fancy" Sxn Game
Rules? Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules! Just play

2.42, Large map, Deity, 7 civs, Raging Hordes

Señor Federico rises to rule the Iberians, who have Bronze, Horsies, and Warrior Code. To be continued…

Hey Stray - just noticed your country flag, wouldn't Panama be more appropriate than East Timor?

Sign me up - but be warned that I will be starting a new, insidious succession on completion of the No Trade monster.

Welcome, Grigor... don't feel bad about asking questions.

And don't feel bad about the verbal abuse from the Scouses Git, either (when it comes, and it will) - they do that to everyone

I was mostly a King level player when I started playing succession games. Now I laugh at King level . So if you want to be a better player, this will help... even if you are already good, I daresay.

Insidious Libel Ming - ban the bounder!!

We don't deal in verbal abuse - just robust constructive criticism - except when we are dealing with a bounder like STYOM of course

Welcome, Grigor - I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.

If libel is the issue... I can post some quotes from other succession games if you like

All part of the fun!

Canals: No rules, however certain player(s) shall endevour to create such wherever useful or amusing.

Flag: Considered Panama, flag boring. Have long aggitated for East Timor independence (since a National Jr UN thingy in high school), and the flag is cool.

Libel and verbal "abuse": Par for course; get over it.

Anyway looking forward to it

I'll play if there's room for another. Glad to go down the batting order as it's been a busy week.

3200 evaluate situation: science at 24 turns, nothing can be done atm. Seville: no extra science using fish, and resources more valuable atm than 1 more gold. Madrid: Again the resources from the forest will speed setters, though building will create a temporary resource deficiency - worthwhile if we use to build a 3rd city.
3150 still can't buy warrior, tickle settler and rearrange to build settlers in 2 rounds
3100 nothing of significance
3050 settlers and warrior finished - warrior finds whales - have next 2 city sites eyed out (and potential SSC site can have wheat, silk, fish, and possible hidden special)
3000 realize haven't contacted vikings recently, they are neutral and we have nothing to offer, they drop to uncooperative
2950 ...
2900 Central Beach founded, science rate halved to 12
2850
2800 hut, Hello There! discovered, science down to 10, that means the SSC would be city #5...
2750 ...
2700 ...
2650 Ceremonial Burial - tempted to go for writing (Republic) or Currency (Trade) but decides on Monarchy to satisfy fellow players , tickle towards settlers in madrid
2600 ...
2550 tickle settlers in madrid
2500 hut, 50 gold (fin settler(madrid), tickle settler (seville) fin phalanx (Hello There))

thoughts: I forgot to watch where Seville grew to size 2, so we could have been a couple turns closer to monarchy by now. In any case we should be in monarchy about the time we found our SSC (unless next player decides to use an existing city)
Also, I managed to get both exploring units into one area of the map for a while so I didn't explore as much as we could have, so used a quick warrior to try and rectify the situation. Thirdly, i neglected the vikings (only contacted once in my time). someone may want to have a chat with them. All things considered, though, I'm sure i could have done far worse than i did.

well, as this is my first succession game, all i can really do is comment based on what i've read in other logs.

Most of the other games have limited players to 8. In one of those more recent games, (The No Trade, No Problem Succession Game ), the 8th player (La Fayette) only got to play 1 set of turns. Granted, they started with 20 turns per turn instead of 15, but that game also had a couple handicaps too. If the more experienced players are as efficient in this game as in that game, late additions may well again only get one set of turns.

That said, I have no problem adding them in

edit: trying to fix link

I have no problem with adding players. I'm starting a new game in MGE format :shameless plug for new game: so latecomers to this one are welcome in mine.

On further reflection... I'm already playing in the no science game, plus my new game, AND I don't have any version restrictions. So, I'll step back from this game and let some of the newcomers have a go.

Carry on...

How can a lurker threaten?
How can you see a lurker?

If there is room, sure, but if it works better with 8 I'll just wait for the next game.

Experienced folks know best.
