IIRC, he was uspet at the Oscar race and referred to it as a meat market. He announced when he was nominated for Patton that he didn't want the award and would not accept it if he won. Sure enough, on Oscar night his name was announced for Best Actor. He was at home watching a hockey game or something on TV.
The other incident I can think of is when Ving Rhames won Best Actor in a TV Movie at the Golden Globe Awards, and he declined the award on stage and thrust it into the hands of Jack Lemmon, whom he felt deserved it more.
And speaking of meat markets, where is my quid pro quo for my Doc S vote?

Hmm, having read all the complaints, all I can say is people should be alowed to vote for whomever they want, no matter the reason.
What difference does it make?

I'm actually fine with that. Since I don't care about the hall anyway. I just think its pretty funny to hear the ACOLites whining* about how they weren't trying to **** up the site.* It's obvious that they wanted to disrupt it. If DS wants to put down the hammer, I don't mind. It's his little toy.
*It's cool to be a troll. But you should take your whipping without a whine like Alexander always does for instance.

Just like if I get restricted by Ming for chatting with Boris, I'll take it without a bunch of buttlock. I know I ride the line a lot.

If anything I feel guilty for bringing it to that. But I won't whine about my own ban even if I think it's wrong. Mark really knows how to "Jewish mother" me, though.

Apologies. I'm a day behind on the vote tallying.
As per orders by ming- I will count all counterglow voters... Counterglow voters... if you want to post your votes again, please do do- it'll help me a lot. I'll go back and see if I can catch your earlier votes, but don't count on it... if you need, I'll give you an extra day... Taz needn't worry about posting again, I have his already noted. (but not yet logged)
-
Jon Miller-
I'll log your votes for:
Zeus of Olimpos
Zykla
Civnation
(when you say to do so)
but in your PM you stated that you would like to vote for Loud Medicine...
If you want to, you can... it was just the whole ticket that you voted that was the problem.
(and the fact that you posted where you did)
But you argued well for your position, and I see no frivolity in your vote for at least that particular poster!
Also- I am restoring your old votes! All ten of them.

As for DC's comments about me being voted in supposedly by an israeli group - yes, the israelis supported me, but not only because i'm israeli, i think , but because i was good at defending israel and they liked it. I would like to note that non-israelis contributed to my selection as well.
|
Oh, I know that, I don't deny that you belong in- but it was true that all the Israelis were voting together for some time with exactly the same ballots for Eli, Natan or Dalgetti, and you
Thanks for the tempered words Sirotnikov

Sorry but i dont understand all this
I want to vote for
Boddingtons
Sagacious Dolphin
Datajack Franit
Will i get a sentance for this?! is this allowed?
|
Yes Rothy, It is allowed- thank you for voting!
I hope that you have enjoyed Apoltyon in the year that you have been here!
Oerdin
Apology accepted (from counterglow)
I didn't take it personally anyway.
ColdWizard
Could you please vote again... I can't find who you voted for.
ops:
-
Final Note: The Hall does not forbid Bloc-Voting... It is discouraged, but NOT outlawed!
I can care less if you are electing someone who belongs in the hall... It's just the way that the most recent one was done that made me angry.
-
Well, I have to admit, it was amusing- It'll be interesting to look at this in the archive a year from now.
And hopefully it will be archived (20+) pages for the hall... an new record!

It's not a positive thing. However, Frogger still didn't use it correctly, as Sloww is by no means book-learned or formal. He's just obnoxious.

What's not positive about it? Have you noticed that this old world is not exactly overflowing with book learning right now? Just imagine what life would be like in "the 'hood" if the gangstas were obsessed with formal rules. They'd never get around to wasteing anybody.
It could have been worse, he could have called him "pederastic".
