It doesn't need to... If worse comes to worse, the thread will just "disappear"
And Rothy, don't waste your vote on Boddington... he's already in, so votes for him don't count

A) You quote me on something I'm suggesting CG do, on their own site.
B) You aren't needed to make a HoF here, as DC has it well under control, so
C) Ming the Bastard was right to delete your poll.

Don't worry Kaak... it's a OTF popularity contest any way. Rarely do they actually elect somebody who really contributed to the community

While there's no way of effectively treating corruption in voting, as it always exists, I do think that the current thing has crossed the line.
I didn't read everything, but...
This was organized corruption on a large scale, and if the members weren't already registered, might have been considered a forum "invasion".
I think that DC has a right of banning people who are trying to screw up his project.
As for DC's comments about me being voted in supposedly by an israeli group - yes, the israelis supported me, but not only because i'm israeli, i think , but because i was good at defending israel and they liked it. I would like to note that non-israelis contributed to my selection as well.
The only one I voted for in an "organized" fashion, was ecthelion, who was my dear friend and i felt he was under appriciated, compared to other people who got into the HoF.
I know that i always vote honestly according to what i truely believe, even at the cost of making enemies in my "gang" who expected me to vote for them. this on forum and in real life as well. I remember getting angry PMs and ICQs from some people. I was also yelled at in real life for not voting for my friends, when I found better candidates.
Frankly, I find this gang voting despickable and realize DC's reaction, though I also realize Ming's reaction (though I think he should sympathise with DC more). A very similar thing has seemed to happenned in the voting process for places in the Likkud party in Israel, which has caused it to plummet as the public lost it's trust. I wouldn't want the same to happen to the HoF.
The question here is whether DC has an official privelege to "ban" people. Jut like mods can ban people from posting, DC can techincally ban them from voting. But DC, unlike Ming, is not an employee chosen by the management. He is a volunteer and this is his hobby. So can he ban people? Technically yes. But it's also against site rules (no one can ban anyone, except mods, and no private threads).
So the question is - is the HoF recognized as an official apolyton function, and DC as it's editor and thus in full control, or not?

Why don't you just admit you over reacted and drop this silliness.
WE ALL KNOW YOU WORK HARD ON THIS AND PUT A LOT OF EFFORT INTO IT... and for that THANK YOU.
But please, you are taking this a "tad" too serious.
Let the people speak...
|
Okay. I'll have penned responses for everyone within 24 hours... but as for now...
how about this little compromise...
None of the votes count for those people who specifically voted so to "mess up the hall"
If they want to change the votes, they can...
Perhaps I'll let the votes they made stand... perhaps not- I have to think on that.
Ignore the punishment spheres
(although I truly wish I could keep Taz and loinburger in one )
further responses will be forthcoming.
-
oh, and apologies to the 2001 registerees I accidentially counted at 2 votes- I seem to have done that to 3 of you ops:
-
So, I hope I have dropped most of this silliness.
-
and thanks to everyone who votes for people they TRULY want in the hall and not merely to "mess up the hall"... Thank you again!

Can't I get at least one person to vote for me? It would really help my ego.

I would never try to "mess up the hall" -- all I've ever wanted was to give Flatulus, Buttnugget, and Chocoballs the recognition that they deserve!

That's not a compromise that's trying to get yourself out of the hole you dug.
The posters I suggested have all contributed to this site and everyone who voted was a properly registered poster who while accepting a recommendation was still exercising their personal preferences. At what point does that process give you the right to invalidate their choices? None I say, and for your little popularity contest to retain what little credibility it has, I suggest that you rethink your position pronto.
Every one of those CG posters posts or has posted here and made significant contributions to the site. You deny them the right to be considered because of your prejudices about who is right to be in the HoF - I'm sorry but you really open yourself for ridicule if you fail to see that.
Its not a genuine HoF if you feel the need to censor the votes of genuine long standing poly posters just because you disagree with their votes. If you want to do that then give up the sham of democracy and just pick the inductees yourself.

Hi Siro. This here is a "sense of proportion". Allow me to introduce you to it.
When you're done, there's a "sense of humour" I'd like you to meet too. I think you'll get on fine.
