Need help!
My game doesn't work, it runs the intro and the menu but crashes when trying to start a new game. The message I get is:
"initialization error
file not found "art/units/colons/colons.ini" " (I translated the message so maybe it's not exactly what it says in english).
Does anyone else got this problem? I would greatly apreciate help, this is a bit frustrating.
Thanks

It sounds like one of two things (probably #2):
#1. You had a cracked version of Civ III, and then installed PtW. If this is what happened, you need to go get a legal copy, heh.
#2. Since you had to translate the error, it probably is an issue with the various language versions that PtW was released. I'm not sure about the whole fiasco, but it's possible you have two separate language versions of the games, which are incompatible.

#1 doesn't apply to me
#2 could be that, since I have Civ III in english and PtW in french. But it says on the box: this game is completely compatible with the english version of Civ III...
any suggestions?
Thanks for replying.

A similar problem affected me, I fixed it by installing the 1.19 patch to Civilization3, because that changes file names that PTW uses, I hope that helps.

all good advice.
if that doesn't work. delete the game and try reinstalling. Again like Sharule said, install the latest patch.
and looking at your #2, well some things on civ3 boxes turned out to not be true . Look in the technical support section of their webstire for info. on foreign language versions.
