The first part just isn't true by objective fact. It had started well before he came along. The second part is true, but that is not to diminish their value.

Okay, it's very simple. Whole numbers are a subset of the set of numbers. All whole numbers (1, 2, -1000, etc.) are numbers, but not all numbers (5/4ths, i, pi, 5.375, etc.) are whole numbers. Communists are revolutionary socialists, as are anarchists. But we all believe in a socialist society (what exactly that means depends on the socialist). Furthermore, Marxists are scientific socialists (Scientific Socialism is the name Marx gave to his version of socialism).
Generally what differentiates socialists from communists is that communists realize that the capitalist state must be overthrown and replaced with a workers' state, while other socialists claim that the system can be reformed. Anarchists differ from communists in that they do not want to replace the capitalist state at all, just destroy it.

Please quote the section where MtG said that. Please. I can't find it.

No, that certainly isn't true. In fact, I hate to say it but the media wouldn't have even listened to him if it had not been for the people in the trenches. We can't say with as much certainty that the media would not have paid attention to those participating in the sit-ins and the voter registration drives etc.. That is where all the news came from. I agree that MLK was very persuasive, but talk really accomplishes very little, unfortunately. Look at the Montgomery bus boycott. That hurt some people economically. When you do stuff like that you make a differences. The people who participated in that kind of stuff made the sacrafices to make a difference.
|
Of course, the fact that MLK organized the Montgomery boycott is irrelevant, right?:
"On December 1st of that year, Mrs. Rosa Parks, a forty-two year old seamstress, boarded a city bus and sat in the first row of seats in the black section of the bus. When some white men got on the bus, the driver, James F. Blake ordered Mrs. Parks to give up her seat and move back. She refused to move, and Blake called the police to have her arrested.
When Rosa Parks was arrested, the leaders in Montgomery 's black community saw the incident as an opportunity for staging a protest against the city's segregation laws. Over the weekend of December 3 and 4, the Reverends Ralph Abernathy and Martin Luther King met with Jo Ann Robinson (head of the Women's Political Council) and E. D. Nixon (an official with the NAACP). The purpose of their meeting was to plan a large scale boycott against the Montgomery city bus lines... "

Let's be honest, JohnT, the NAACP did not see Ms. Park's arrest as an opportunity. They created the incident in the first place. Her sit down was a planned event (she was the secretary of Ed Norton), so that they could start a lawsuit to desegregate the bus line. The purpose of the boycott was to create support for the lawsuit, but as so often happens, protests become movements and movements become revolutions.

I do not deny that Che. But to have somebody dis MLK for "not taking action" and then to support their position by citing the Montgomery boycott is too rich an opportunity to pass up.

I don't believe that I said that MLK did not help organize the boycott. I only said that the people who participated in that boycott made a significant difference in the movement.
Please be more carefull not to put words in my mouth.

I dont care if the man brought world hunger to end or slaughtered millions, as long as I remember having a school day off during my childhood, he will always be my idol.

Has anybody here, seen my old friend Bobby?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I seen him walking up over the hill
With Abraham, Martin and John.
They helped a lot of people,
But it seems the good, they die young.
I just turned around and they're gone.
