An AI Surprise!!
This made my jaw drop...
AU 203, and I'm in a late industrial battle-slog. I'm Germany, getting close to Motor Trans, the light blue is my current buddy China who seems close to the modern age, Persia is the big dog with at least Synth Fibers, and Babylon is probably the tech leader having completed SETI.
AND THIS COMES OUTTA THE BLUE...
First off, an AI heli-drop (never done it, never seen it).
Second, look at my visitor!!

I'm not quite sure what the point is with just one of them, especially if your defenders are more than one deep. For that matter, is there some reason they had to heli-drop the tank instead of sending it along their railroad network?

The funny thing is that the unit being dropped is not the tank. It's the bowman to the west of New Munich.

That bowman is dark-blue, which would make it a german unit??

Bowmen (as distinct from archers) are always Babylonian, and that's Babylonian Blue, which is a bit darker than the German Blue of Theseus's units. The diference was enough for me to notice that something looked odd the first time I looked at the picture, but not enough for me to catch what it was.

I think it is the helicopter (chinook model with two rotors) which dropped the bowman.

Yes, that is a suprise indeed. I've never seen the AI build helicopters in my games and I only built them on very few occasions. I experimented a little with dropping Infantry at first, but for this tactic to be effective, you need a lot of helicopters. By the time I build them, I have Paratroopers and (at least) Tanks, so they are all but obsolete.

The AI overuses them in PTW, The one I saw dropped a unit from his territory into mine, sounds ok right.
Except we had ROP signed and had both roads and RR. . He's now dropping a marines every turn.

Actually, it's even more dumb than anybody guessed... we are all at war with Persia, which is to the far east of the continent. A bizarre move; the Bowman, which was followed by a Guerilla, is just camping out.
Maybe Hammy is looking for a GA??!!

I love these resource graphics... yup, gems.
BTW, the helicopter graphic was very cool. I know I tried them out like a year ago, but I had forgotten.
