Arcology International Research Programme
As some of you may know, The Federation of Redfern is experiencing some difficulties in terms of population densities within city limits and have been trying to look into viable solutions.
We would like to propose an international research programme for Arcologies, which we feel would better manage population in particularly crowded areas accross Apolyton, whilst making sure citizens are safe and comfortable.
More information can be found here -
http://www.arcosanti.org/arcology/a=...a/habitat.html
http://www.peagreenboat.com/arcology/
Please vote yes, to make Apolyton a happier, healthier place.

Really, the research is already established. It's a feasible project. But no one has enough funds to create one. Perhaps with advances in engineering and architecture, they might become possible for the (un)common nation.

These make excellent targets in a war and have huge problems with fire.
I urge you to have second thoughts.

War - Not an issue if they're sufficiently within your territory and protected. Enough anti-aircraft and missile defence, and you're fine.
Fire - The same could be said about skyscrapers. The fire problems can be sorted by the engineering groups involved in the project.

the Nooslandian representative has brought up some important points. In any other time, I'd say that the benefits outweigh the risks, however, in these dangerous worrisome times, I think that equipping my soldiers with new electronic equipment, and building laser AA defences comes first.
I must admit that these are very important projects, in the long term.

Those structures are too big and not very nice to see. They would ruin the look of our ancient\medieval and reinessance cities.

The risks of fire are already apparent in the vast majority of
Redfern's buildings - the largest tower in the Federation, the Red Ruby Tower holds 20,000 office workers and 10,000 residents at its peak.

Imagine throwing a party in that building!

The Dominion of Human resources is highly interested in the construction of multiple arcologies.

Even when you build them in the core of your country, you cannot avoid long range ballistic and cruise missiles. What's even more worrying are terrorist attacks. If you think World Trade Centre was bad, these things are disasters waiting to happen, with unimaginable consequences. You will not have enough emergency facilities to deal with one.
Please, think of the people.

Well when you run out of land for people what are you to do?? You have to put them somewhere. You could design a arco that could withstand many of the threats you listed, or give enough time to evacuate the people inside.

I agree with this issue. Although my nation, the FTR, has no population havoc, there is nothing wrong in prevention.
Furthermore, Arcologies are not only a good choice for overpopulated areas, but a very good choice when you are experiencing ecological troubles due to population. Sometimes is good to keep your people is concealed areas than to have it scattered in wide areas of space.

The Empire of Drunken Macaque sees that this technology could quickly become necessary. Already our population has almost doubled in the past 3 days (from 4M to 7M). Although it will be some time before these arcologies will be necessary, it will also be some time before they are researched sufficiently to begin construction. We say, start researching them now!

These are the worries of ocean-locked nations. Real nations use landgrab to solve this problem
in the last 4 days, we've grown from 30 million to 67 million.

But the overpopulation would also become a problem for not-so-land-gifted nation, like the case of the FTR, in which a notorious amount of territory is occupied by inhospitable mountains. The population has been rapidly growing in the few considerably fertile areas and in the capital city.

We like the concept and the People's Republic Of East Yorkshire is embarking on the arcological construction shown in the picture below. It requires a great expenditure on behalf of the central government, but we believe that if successful it will put us at the front of such engineering, and will bring in more money to our nation than the initial cost. Such a construction will be completed by 2015, even with a substantial civil engineering team.

I'm In. My nation is a couple volcanic rocks about the size of Iceland, and covered with protected forests. If we go out we will harm the enviroment of our luxurious forests, so going up is a logical alternative. The Raganarok parliment has already set up a task force to plan several Arcos within the next 20 years and our combined knoledge will really speed up that process. The People's Republic of Raganarok is renouned for the very stong Raganian Steel, one of the few materials strong enough to resist a terrorist attack. Raganian Steel is a special alloy of Iron, Magnesium, Titanium, Wolfram, (Tungsten) Chromium, and Cerium that is strong, yet has a high tensile stength.

The FTR gave green light for the construction of the Hyper Building, a megametropolitan complex, in the western areas of the capital city of Adranor.
It is not yet clear how long will the project take, but estimations throw results quite satisfactory.

SWEET ARCO!!!
We have started constuction of a 220 story building with 10 times the space of the PETRONAS Towers. (It is also very wide.) It will house 30,000 people.
