Topped threads
We never quite finished that discussion on which threads should be topped. I gave it some more thought and have the following proposal:
- Constitution + FAQ
- Savegames
- Court History (with link to 'File Cases' thread)
- Government Announcements (see below)
- Index of Lemuria (directory of interesting threads: stories, strategy, cafe, chat discussions, contact info thread, etc)
- Elections/Impeachments/Nominations/etc (temporary threads)
Government announcement thread
To-be-created thread for important announcements by (executive?) government officials. Not for regular discussions/spam. Links to seperate threads should be provided if a need for discussion is anticipated. The kind of thread people would subscribe to (in combination with the Court History thread) if they can't visit the forum daily and want to be alerted if something worthwhile happens.
To be used for:
- announcing dates for turn chats (including link to discussion thread)
- listing resolutions passed? (now happens in Court History)
- announcing the opening of nominations for elections?
- announcing the appointment of delegates
- announcing absence, resignation, etc
- linking to very important polls/threads that everyone must read/know about (i.e. should we go to war?)
- posting results of single actions by Prez (as opposed to full turn chats) (i.e. result of recent map exchange attempt) (including link to discussion thread)
- posting important generic info/announcements (example: leave IW's barely recovered unconstitutional diplo poll alone)
This gives us 5 permanently topped threads. Not bad for a Demo Game. But of course, I'm eager to hear what you guys think about this...

Not yet. But it shouldn't be too hard to make a start. After that, people can simply submit additions as they come across them (as long as 1 person maintains the the index in the first few posts of the thread)...

My opinion is
- Constitution + FAQ + Index (links to strategy, cafe, chat discussions, etc...)
- Savegames
- Court History (with link to 'File Cases' thread)
- Lemuria History
The idea of Government annoucements should be done the same way it current works: temporary threads topped.

Some people have indicated that they wanted a thread where important other threads were linked in, so they could subscribe to it when they don't visit the forum daily. We had such a thread for a while but it kind of died. Plus, I would really like to have a place to post announcements where I can be sure the entire community will read it timely. News/forum announcements/Lemuria Cafe/new threads, etc doesn't always reach everyone and it's a lot of work to post in all those places at the same time. One location that everyone can read and link to would be much easier...
But what do others think?

Looks fine to me!
So:
- Constitution + FAQ + Index (links to strategy, cafe, chat discussions, etc...)
- Savegames
- Court History (with link to 'File Cases' thread)
- Lemuria History
- Government annoucements
to be the topped thread?
I really like the idea of having the History of Lemuria thread topped!

Sounds good to me. I was already considering to suggest that myself.
One thing though: putting Constitution, FAQ *and* Index in one thread is too much, we should IMHO keep the Index seperate. The Index is very dynamic and will be updated/referenced by all, the Constitution/FAQ are static and only be used occassionally, mainly by newcomers and Judges.
Thoughts?

I keep a copy on my desktop . Although that's mainly because I'm working on amending it - I also have two other versions of it there.
w.r.t. topped threads - I think the current suggestion is good.

Maybe the first poster should (for newbies and people who don't know) mentioned how to subscribe to a single threat.

I removed the "Edited by locutus" sentence. I just think somehow confusing for the newbies. Not to mention kind of strange. But i left the contet of the edit. I hope you dont mind !?!
Locutus, time to drop the "File Cases here " thread. And link it to the cases hitory one.
