Executive Office: Science Advisor
SCIENCE OFFICE
I am going to continue to use the format that joncnunn started. The tech queue is different.
We are currently in the Industrial age in 1325 A.D.
Our most advanced main branch techs are Corporation, Refinery, Replaceable Parts, Electronics, and Radio.
We are currently reseraching Steel which at current science rate will would be completed in 1335AD (2 turns).
Following the discovery of Steel, we should reserach Combustion in 4 turns if war werrious levels allows.
To close out the Industrial Era, we should reserach Mass Production followed by Motorized Transportation , and finally Flight , in 4 turns each if war weireness allows.
I suggest the president and FAM maintain a 2+ tech lead over leading AIs, going into the modern era.
Judging my the majority sentiment that spaceship is the way to go, but I think we need to cover the defensive and offensive needs of the nation, I suggest that the President direct or reasearch as follows:
To see other tech options, I believe joncnunn postred some alternate
"fast track" research paths. Included here for your reference, but...
I am suggesting the following Modern Age Tech Path as it sees to the defensive needs of this nation while priortizing our space race.
1. Fission
2. Computers
3. Ecology
4. Synethic Fibers
5. Rocketry
6. Space Flight
7. Super Conductor
8. Satellites
9. Nuclear Power
10. Laser
11. Miniturazation
12. Genetics
13. Steath
14. Smart Weapons
15. Integrated Defense
16. Recyling
17. Robotics
18. Future Tech 1 to N
Fission is one of the only thing that is floating here depending when we really want to research it in relationship to the other civs and when we want to discover aluminum with rocketry
Please discuss....

There seems to be a missing "Or Syntheic Fibers" for line 5:
Because:
2A : Fission
3B: Ecology
4C: Rocketry
leads to both Rocketry and Fission having been discovered for line 5.

Synthetic Fibers, as this plan stands , shall come no later than tech 4.

In light of the poll to only use the current leader for the UN, perhaps the first few techs should be:
1. Fission: For the ultra fast UN.
2. Computers
3. Ecology
4. Synethic Fibers
5. Rocketry
This also takes advantage of Scientfic civs getting Rocketry as their free modern era tech 90% of the time.

I like this plan, and I think we should start it how johncnunn suggested.

I thought scientific civs usually got Computers as their free tech, but maybe I am mistaken.

Same with me. I like your plan, MSS, but joncnunn has a point. We can implement the change suggested by him: Fission before Computers.

Rocketry is by far the majority. (About 92%)
Second most likely is computers. (About 5%)
I think the 3rd most likely is Env (2%) and least likely is Fission (1%)
There's exact stats somewhere in the Strategry Forum and Firaxis is planning on changing the odds in the next PTW patch.

What I would like to see is a OCSSC prioritised list. Building the SS with our massive infrastructure will be too easy, therefore I propose allowing Ferropolis to build the whole banana, as in SS Banana. Once maxed out, Ferropolias should be capable of building any part in 4 turns or less.
There are 10 Modern Age techs required, and parts can start once Apollo is done a minimum of 2 techs into the age.
I Challenge our future DM to see how many turns after that 10th tech are required for Ferropolis to do the whole deed.
That's Na'rmer does UN, Ferropolis pre-builds Apollo, then Ferropolis does every other part itself sequentially.
The theoretical limit is 41 turns into the Age. We can do it! The question is can we do it the OCSSC way.
(Desperately trying to come up with a way to make the modern age interesting)

You're right, roadcage. I usually abandon my games as soon the modern age comes, after build UN and see if I have uranium...
