Well, I've looked over the cities of you all, and here is what I'm thinking:
I'm thinking we have hit some kind of cap or another. Our growth rates are pretty pathetic (and for some of us - negative!), and there isn't much progress... Any one agree / have any ideas on how to break that cap?

I heard somewhere (on the official board maybe?) that building a landmark would solve the problem, but every time I open the landmarks menu I get kind of lost (never built landmarks any way... The only landmark I remember building was St. Basil's Cathedral, while building Moscow... Other than that, they don't really appeal to me...), so I get lost every time I open the landmarks menu, and am not really sure what to build...

hum, Kregston might make a landmark a new goal... Still need to get that recycling plant first, though.
Do landmarks cost any money to place, or is it just the monthly upkeep?

No ones got airports yet have they? I know Jonny's got a seaport, maybe if we all had airports we'd get a steady influx around each city (providing we have adequate schooling health etc to keep demand high)

Yeah, an airport might help. IIRC, seaports only attract industry - not people. I don't really have enough space for one, though... There are two islands on my map that are still empty but I already got them in sight for residential development (as that's what's mostly in demand.) I guess I could squeeze it on the mainland, though... I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Yeah in SC3K seaports only helped industry, and airports usually commercial demand, but airports likely bring residential too. I dont think the residential demand just dries up in a sim nation, you just have to work out whats stifling it, poor health education no jobs whatever.

I would have a difficult time making space for an airport in Kreston.

I would have a hard time as well, as most of the space I haven't built on is quite hilly.

Yep, Eli didn't play the last turn...
I will play mine soon. For now, though, I just wanted to point out that for those of us that didn't get the bonus transportation CD, it is now up for download (officially):
http://simcity.ea.com/coolstuff/landmarks/index.php
I don't know if it's still buggy though.

I just found this on the official board:
http://simcity.ea.com/bbs/messages.p...261&startRow=1
It's about how to get the commute time down... haven't tested if it works though...

I know, stupid eh?
I pre-ordered Shadowbane and got an entire box with a CD in it. It advertised having a number of movies, wallpapers, ect... but the CD just links to the webpage where you download them.
EDIT: Nearly forgot what i came here to post. I'm going to be unable to play all next week, so if you don't mind I'll play for four years and cover the next two turns at once.

Under one condition:
When having played 2 years, you write the statistics down, and then again when having played all 4 years... then post both statistics

Well, I have played my turn.

The Vovanburg Times
January 01, 2018 Energy Crisis Turns into ProsperityIn the biannual address today, the mayor pointed out several improvements our town has undergone in the past two years. Most importantly, the energy crisis that was about to strangle Vovanburg was defeated with the Mayor’s efforts. A new Oil power plant was constructed on the tiny island to the north of the peninsula. In fact, it is far enough from the residential areas, that the air pollution doesn’t reach the noses of the wealthy occupants of beach-side properties. The effect on water is as of yet unknown. The construction of the new plant gave the city so much electricity, that the old natural gas power plant was destroyed, and after a nominal period left for the air to clean up, a new residential district was constructed in its place. That action not only decreased the cost of electricity in the city (as oil power is much cheaper than gas power), but also attracted new population, and tax dollars, as well as more commercial and high-tech enterprises.

Jees the forum is acting up. Anyway.
Residential - 11, 409 (+20%)
Commercial - 1, 981 (+72%)
Industrial - 0 (+0%)
http://apolyton.net/upload/files/Maq...apulco2008.zip
Had a short health crisis and a strike (i think) but i quelled it with a clinic before it kicked off big style, built a couple of connections, road and rail to JohnSjVille. Industrial demand seems to be rising now but im gonna try and stifle it with taxes next turn.

Here's the first two years, I'll upload a new save file when I'm done with the next two.
Kreston, 2018
Residential Population: 15 022
Commercial Jobs: 6 054
Industrial jobs: 1 503
There is no sign of the commercial boom stoping, even with Kregston's expansion into the hillsides the overwhelming demand for commercial buisnesses and housing continues.

Here you can see the newly constructed statue of the mayor (top left), overlooking thriving downtown Kregston. The mayor was a bit disapointed with the out turn of the statue, having expected an exquisetely carved granite monument standing atleast 200 ft tall when he ordered its construction.

And a picture of the developing expansion into the hills, and all the way to the west coast. There is still alot of development planned for this area.

A brilliant concept for MP - once I'll get SC4, I'll see if this is up anymore, and then possibly join it.

Ok, I'm done with my 4-year turn now.
Kregston, 2020
Population: 15 023
Commercial jobs: 6272
Industrial jobs: 880
Things have slowed down a bit, most of the past two years have been spent on beutification and improving the education system. A Museum and a new highschool have been built, aswell as a beach in Kregston harbour. (Which ended up costing more then expected, due to the costs of demolishing houses on the shore, and reconstructing the landscape so that it would be suitable for a beach)
There was also a minor fire in the abandoned industrial sector, and industry seems to be leaving Kregston once again - having droped almost 50% in the last two years.
Demolition and remodeling of the abandoned industrial sector is going to be one of Kregston's new priorities. Plans for new residential and commercial zoning or a University are being considered for the area.
You can download it here.

Well, I see you are having slight difficulties with the city, but I must say, wow, the city is so pretty. I mean, it looks awesome in the mountains. Very nice.

Anyway... I'm going to play my turn in a few minutes

My turn played:
ADGillage
Population: 19,967 (+ 10%)
Comercial Jobs: 5,821 (+ 30%)
Industrial Jobs: 4,650 (+ 50%)
Went much better this turn... Didn't build much though. Last turn was extremely herectic, while in this turn, I just sat down, while collecting money
The only new things that happened during this turn, was:
Build a University
A few new houses was build... houses I have never (in any of my previously games) seen before...
(Will up the game, in the normal spot, in a few minutes)
