Timed-Turns? What is it?
From Chantz' gold post in the official forums:
"...you say IFPs are gone? Not quite folks...timed turns *are* IFPs, just done a different way. The result is the same...constraining the player as their empire grows larger. "
So what are timed-turns? Just what it says? Timer counting down during your turn? Is it optional? Or is it only in MP?
???

Good move.

Timed turns are exactly that, a time limit. I think they will only really be used of Multi-play.
I think if you complete your turn faster you gain more intrest than if you take the whole allocated time. *i think*

Unfortunately, interest bonuses for fast turns was cut. I think it's on one of Dopefish's Chatlogs with Kebzero:
http://www.css.tayloru.edu/~jefoote/moo3/
It's a pity, but then again I won't be playing much MP so I'm not bothered.
At least I know that I can stop my anal retentive friends from adjusting their build queues for every planet EVERY SINGLE DAMN TURN!
Also, the option for one minute per turn 'Speed-MOO' games should be fun

14:57:44 ZenGonzMoO: Pressing end turn early gives you an interest bonus, right?
14:58:02 kebzero: No, Zen. That's gone too, AFAIK.
14:58:05 ZenGonzMoO: ....

sigh.
So much for this sensible, fun and time-proven feature.
Where's the "death by a 1000 cuts" thread again?

Well, the fact that there's no PBEM has pretty much killed MP for me anyhow, so I dont give a hot flying sh*t anyhow.

well... PBEM would have been the only way i could play, but i didn't really consider it being an option anyway (how the hell would battles work?). I assume the time related interest function was cut as it did turn the game into a bit of a clickfest (ie a bad, non-fun thing).

M.U.L.E. plus C64 emulator = still viable
I have a M.U.L.E. ROM sitting on my hard drive at home somewhere.

dammit, intrest seemed like a good idea, but im sure their was a decent reason why they cut it, it was prolly just not fun, and as Marione said "a stratigic clickfest"

God bless you Mose. When I read of RON and the one hour games that go through the tech tree to completion of history I remember SMAC PBEM turns that I would open and just look at for an hour before I made my first move.
But then folks play speed chess so I guess its a matter of personal preference.

Nobody likes it until something *they* wanted is cut.
