United Kingdom's Status
So -- do you think the United Kingdom should just officially become the 51st state of the United States?

*breaks into song*
Look out of your windows, watch the skies
Read all the instructions with bright blue eyes
We're W.A.S.Ps, proud American sons
We know how to clean our teeth and how to strip down a gun
We're the 51st state of America
Our star-spangled Union Jack flutters so proud
Over the dancing heads of the merry patriotic crowd
Tip your hat to the Yankee conqueror
We've got no reds under the bed with guns under our pillows
We're the 51st state of America
Here in the land of opportunity, watch us revel in our liberty
You can say what you like but it doesn't change anything
Because the corridors of power are an ocean away
We're the 51st state of America

The UK would be more than 1 state, England could be more than 1 and the scots and welsh would want their own too

England would have to be split, or the Yanks would complain about it having the biggest electoral college vote.
Come to think of it, they'd always vote Democrat.

One thing's for sure: it's the only way the US will ever get to have congressmen from a Labor party.

or would the Americans always wote conservative
Perhaps they would vote BNP
Anyway as I said there should be a reunion. The US would get the queen or official Royal Family - not only that they would get the original one not some imposters, and the Queen who would be stripped of presidential status, the capital would move to Lonon in order to ensure quick world domination and make the British-American Empire (the new name) great again under the american president.
Now that would be a kick ass country. The Euros would kneel down to the new superpower on two sides of the Atlantic
P.S They should make Gibraltar independant and make Tony Blair the PM in the "independant" UK government in exile and a part of the EU with a seat in European Parliament.

Oh please. Once the first lot of Ibiza-bored, blind drunk, techno-club hopping football hooligans descend on middle America in their thousands for a pub crawl and a curry, you'll no longer think of us as a nation of tea drinking, rough yet charming cockney lovelies a la My Fair Lady. You'll run screaming for the hills.

Going by recent opinion polls we're still independent-minded...Blair's not the most representative of Prime Ministers
'Hey Mr Bush,
May I kiss your tush?
And in the meantime screw
The crazy old EU!'
Not everyone thinks like him...

I 'trust' Blair to do what is right for Britain. If that means going against the opinion of the people then so be it.
But I can't see him commiting UK forces to a war in Iraq without UN go ahead, and his interviews seem to reinforce that opinion. He knows it would be political suicide.

What is 'right'? I think, even if we knew the outcome of his actions, people would still disagree about what is 'best', or 'right'. And you would be the first person to trust Blair I've ever met. I think he's done quite well personally, but he's reneged on so many of his promises that I have little belief left when he says something.
I don't think he'll go to war without UN backing, and I think he'll have a hard job even then. Besides, the Queen could just revoke the Royal Privilege (I think that's what it's called)

And who would you vote than - I know Charles Kennedy - this is still not the US 100% There is a third choice in the UK, and a decent one too.
If I was British the Lib Dems would have my vote now.
edit: if it was between Tony and Ian Duncan Smith a bit like Bush and Gore. Dunno what's worse. (ok the conservatives are worse based on their history and current claims, but labor is heading in their general direction fast )

I don't hate white Southerners. For instance, I found it interesting to know that white Southerners who were Republicans or anti-racists during and after Reconstruction were lynched by white Southern racists.
So no -- historically, and today, not all white Southerners are bigots.
And Starchild . . . .
So not everyone loves Tony Blair? That's ok -- we can find some other pet to influence Great Britain's foreign policy for us.

So I earned A's in almost all of my history courses in college, got nominated for the All-American Scholar Collegiate Award twice, been on the Dean's List three times, earned an A on my major's capstone research paper, and a Phi Alpha Theta member because of my poor reading comprehension?
And it's not difficult to discern your "real subtle" words of Gay bigot against Southerners.
