Volunteer Human Shields going to Iraq
Things could get very messy for the US led alliance if thousands go to Iraq to act as human shields.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story...880349,00.html
This is an extraordinary phenomenon - some Australians have gone, Americans and Canadians as well.
The aim is to get thousands over there and thwart the military campaign.
Can it work?

These people are going to Baghdad to 'live among the Iraqis'. So coalition forces won't see these people until they get into the city. Then I'd guess that the human shields will be tied to the sides of Republican Guard tanks, or tied to the exterior walls and roofs of republican guard held buildings... tied by the Iraqis.
I don't know what I would do if I was a soldier asked to attack such a target. I guess I'd attack it.

One of the business professors here went to Iraq while on leave and did a study about the costs of human shields and how many would be needed to stop a particular target from being bombed. He caught some flack for it, but he wasn't disciplined.
Also, is anyone willing to take up a collection to send Horse to Iraq

I imagine it was the usual happy horseshit. Save Iraq! Stop the war! We care! WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!?!
No clue that they will likely end their days tied to a dirty tank with Iraqi soldiers spitting and urinating on them.

I doubt it, they will be victims of Saddam's regime. We didn't tie those people to that tank...

Well it's an interesting situation certainly. I'd guess everyone will blame the US no matter what happens. We'll find out soon enough.

That’s the point.. Everyone will blame USA. Unfair, but a common mistake; the world will mix together the people from USA and the USA government, and they aren't the same thing.
I don't think war is the best solution... but, it is a solution. Robert Heinlein used to say something like this: Wars have solved more "troubles" in the humankind history than any other method... not nice, but true, very true. Human shields can't face that.
Oil (energy) is the only thing that counts in the universe. We're talking about that, aren't we?
(Bush isn't in my nightmares... Condoleezza Rice and **** Channey are. )
I don't know if this makes any sense to you, guys. My bad English doesn't help, too... .
Just to make myself clear, I don't participate in mob riots against USA. Saddham is a insane dictator (he's smart, and this makes him more dangerous...), no doubts about that. But Bush isn't exactly a kind person... (he's not so smart... and this makes him more dangerous!)
Just my two "centavos".

How hard is it to miss them when they are already there? What could be interesting that Iraqis make sure they are with Saddam all the time
Saddam together with 100 protestors, now would the US drop the bombs on his house

From a human life and national security stand point the best thing to do is attack the targets any way. Do that will demenstrate to leftest morons that this tactic doesn't work and they will give it up. This means fewer of these poor deluded souls will end up dieing in the long run.

We should issue them all GPS transmitters so that we will know which of Iraq's critical fascilities are being shieled by the Westerners otherwise thier actions will be meaningless.

As an added bonus our missiles could track the GPS signals and we could get rid of two pains in one stroke.

They'll make great first targets. If enough crazy people go it will be good for the US numbers. If enough people are blown up, than the number of killed compared to just the number of friendly fire deaths will look better on paper. Hey! now there's a job for the French. God, i hate the french so bad. Worthless resource using excuses for humans. I'm sure they would screw up the whole human shield thing also.

To repeat:
We should give them shirts with bull's eyes on them.
No, it won't make an iota of difference, and I would rather these yahoos get craoked them any Iraqi civillians.

The US will issue evacuation warnings similar to those already issued and will urge other governments to do the same. The policy will be that you can leave or stay but the army isn't stopping.

I think that next year there will be a lot more people up for the darwin awards
I mean does this sound like good thinking to you?
There is a AA site right there and a huge military force is attacking and destroying such places withe bombs. Well, I think I will walk over and stand right on top of it than.
To me this sounds like a Darwin award nominee. I mean if you are Anti-War, there are much saner ways to go about it.
