That was horrible. I was expecting at least SOMETHING more, but....No evidence for the people, I suppose

State of the Union speeches are completely unwatchable for one reason - a freakin' standing ovation after every two sentences!!! When did that rediculous tradition start?!?

What surprised me was that Hillary Clinton gave him a standing ovation. Who knows, maybe the Senate is planning to make Bush go the way of Caesar...

FYI: I'm a registered Independent.

Well, with the exception of the malpractice lawsuit cap, he did okay. I lost my case for mal practice because Tom Ridge was threatening to put a moritorium on it and so my lawyer dropped me and two months later my 3 year limit was up.

Tass: This speech wasn't suppose to be a "new evidence" speech. Don't you watch the news? Powell is doing that next week.

There was a rumor going around that Bush would present new evidence in the speech.

This speech is laying the foundations from which Powell will build upon.

Another problem I have with Bush is with AIDS, Africa is a mess. It's not a money problem it's a cultural and language problem. In africa, you're not a man if you wear a condom. And it's practicly impossible to adress this issue since there are dozens of languages in a single "country" alone. (I put country in quotes because they change every week, and are usualy always in civil war). This is just my opinion, but if Bush is going to do this he should know better then to just send money, which NEVER sees it's way to the people it is intended to.

I recall a reporter who found a link between Tim McVee and an Iraqi offical in the Phillipines, but the FBI confiscated her stuff and sat on it. This was when Clinton was still pres BTW.

The usual crap. Promises and more promises. You know I will retire in 40 years and Drug prices will still be an issue. I dont have much faith in bush in domestic issue's. Loved his play on the economy, what a joke. The only new jobs being created are at drive thru's. Nothing worth spouting about.

IMO, His bit about Iraq sounded like there was a Casus Bell. I think War is only a few weeks away.

GOOD speech

Bush does tend to give pretty good speeches. I thought his tax proposals were great, and I really liked his spending ideas (especially money for Africa and hydrogen power research). He laid out the case for going against Iraq fairly well too (to the point where I'm on the fence now).
