Change list order of fora?
For each of the games discussed on Apolyton forum, the General forum tends to be over-trafficked, while specialized fora like Creation and Multiplaying get vey little traffic.
There are two basic rules about forum traffic:
* A forum at the top of the list gets much more traffic than one further down.
* A general forum gets much more traffic than a specialized one.
There have always been many posts in the Civ 3 General forum that belong to other fora. If the general fora were listed last in each game category, more of the posts would be on-topic, and the traffic would be better balanced.

I don't think so... most people think that their ideas are general- and just the fact that few people post/answer in the speciality forums make them less worthwhile to post in.
Generally, most forums are arranged with the most important topics at the top and the least at the bottom; thus the Civ III are at the top of apolyton and the OT is at the bottom
(Or such is the logic that was taken, I suppose )

Well, I suppose they don't want newer members in the OT forum
I agree with DC though, most fora are arranged like that for trafficing purposes, and Dan and Markos changed the order of the Alt. Civs section (TW/BNT and FreeCiv, IIRC), for the same reason (I think... )

Generally speaking I'm pleased with the current order of the fora and I don't choose the forum based on the order. But I agree with DC about the logic behind it. I assume it's especially because of newbies and other less oriented posters don't get the clue immidiately where to post. Of course it's also a shame that these newbies and less oriented posters don't stroll around and look at all of the fora. E.g. when I recently checked Civ III-General for some reason, I noticed a yet another Finnish poster that had been around here for months, but never posted in the Suomithreadi.

I think the order works well. For Civ3 for example General soaks up all the rubbish, leaving for the most part good material in the strategy forum.
