No, that was just the day they celebrated it (because of it being a Sunday methinks), the anniversary was on January 31st when the Germans surrendered (I believed the capitulation was signed on the 30th)...

As far as I understood, at the end the German forces in Stalingrad were split into two pockets. The largest group surrendered with Von Paulos but the smaller group fought on a little longer. Von Paulos was actually made Field Marshal on the 31st and he surrendered the following day.

Paulus was proclaimed Field Marshal on the 30th and surrendered on the 31st.
General Strecker surrounded with the Northern pocket on February 2nd.
So, apparently I was wrong - the last Germans surrendered on the 2nd - I must have been thinking about Paulus' surrender. My mistake...

Hi, FMK
I haven't played it - because I'm a fanatics about WWII scen, but I'm going to do that as soon as possible. I have read in CFC that you need to hex-edit it in order to stop global warmimg. Well, I've edit it. I believe that you still get the message about pollution and global warmimg, but without effects. Try it if you can

Hola yaroslav.
Hey thanks alot. The fellas here will appriciate it I believe. I'll go about changing the game.txt as well now, so as to provide 2 spicy 'random' text popups that'll merely add some atmosphere.
Henrik is my resident hex editor, but I havent seen him online alot in the past while. May I call on you in times of need to solve funky issues like this?
Man, I have studied spanish for more years than I'd like to admit. I wish I could speak to you in Spanish more fluently than I could now.

Are you running windows XE? The DOS based batch file won't work with that operating system, even if you install the 'choice' file, which has been suggested as a fix.

For debugging, throw in a 'Pause' or two.
Tech, what exactly have you seen with choice.com in XP? Since this has come up in a couple of forums, it might be worth a new thread, just to warn designers.
I think I still have an old dos utility by PCMag called Batchman that does the same thing. I'll try to dig it up and test it under XP. In industry, XP stands for e Xplosion Proof. Yeah, right Bill.
Plus, wasn't there a VB program that someone wrote to do this sort of thing? If not, maybe we could beg Merc? I'd do it myself, but then I only have the VBA in Excel.

i'm running xp pro. do you mean that none of the scenarios that use batch files will really be playable anymore? There's got to be some other way!

Yes, you could call me when you need it. I love to hex-edit and it's not difficult for me. In your scen, I've edited one byte that is described in the Allard H.S. Höfelt's Hex-Edit document this way:
"This is a fool-proof way to switch off pollution without the restrictions of the normal cheat-menu switching off of pollution. The message “global warming occurs/will occur soon” of course will need to be changed."
BTW, I'm pretty sure that your spanish is better than my English. Anyway, I can read English without too many problems, so don't worry

Hmmm...I know few of you probably still even remember this scenario, but I'm playing it now: I'm towards the end of Part 3, have finally taken most of the Volga, but I don't get how to get my troops across the river? I made Sturmpioneers, but when they move even one space, they get killed the next turn because they starve. What am I supposed to build again? New "cities"? I cheated and even when I built new cities on the banks, they wouldn't let me build infantry transports. How I move?

The sturmpioneers aren't supposed to eat food as I recall, you could adjust that in the rules.txt yourself if you wanted to.
