Well, that only gives individual pages their own link under bookmarks (or whichever panel is highlighted). Incidentally, I accidentally did that, but how do I get rid of it again? Here's a picture:

Uh, right-click on it and select Remove Button. You can also uncheck Lock Toolbars and move it to a better location such as right next to the address bar.
To reiterate, they can be dragged anywhere. In my screenshot, there are two of them right next to the address bar (which defaults to not showing text labels).

I'm not talking about the panels - I'm talking about those 2 Apolyton links under the panels. I can't drag them off and there is no remove option when right-clicking them.

Hmm, you are right. There is no option for that.
Open up the toolbar.ini in your profile (not the one in the main directory unless it's the same one).
Find your equivalent of:
Code:
|
[Bookmarks Panel Toolbar]
Button style=3
Large Images=0
Wrapping=1
Button0, "Add"="Add to bookmarks, , "", , "New bookmark" | New bookmark, , "", , "New bookmark""
Button1, "Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters"="Go to page, "http://slashdot.org/", "", , "Go to page""
Button2, "New folder"="New folder, , "", , "New folder""
Button3, "View"="Show popup menu, "Bookmarks Panel View Menu", "", , "View""
Button4, "Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters"="Go to page, "http://slashdot.org/", "", , "Go to page"" |
Change it to:
Code:
|
[Bookmarks Panel Toolbar]
Button style=3
Large Images=0
Wrapping=1
Button0, "Add"="Add to bookmarks, , "", , "New bookmark" | New bookmark, , "", , "New bookmark""
Button1, "New folder"="New folder, , "", , "New folder""
Button2, "View"="Show popup menu, "Bookmarks Panel View Menu", "", , "View"" |
I will report this in opera.beta or wherever we are supposed to report bugs nowadays.

Thanks man, that was really helpful. Knowing that a lot of this stuff can be fixed/altered with those ini files (i hadn't payed attention to my Opera directory before) will certainly come in handy

Ok, before someone says that I'm reviving old threads for spam purposes, I have to say that I just downloaded and installed Opera 7 at work and it is simply awesome! The best browser I ever used!
Mouse gestures are so easy to learn and use that it almost feels like second nature now... I didn't have much time to explore all the options, but the Wand feature seems nice and the Hotlist too. Plus the ability to mold the interface the way you want it to be. When I get home, I'll download it and try the mail client -- does this one works well?
The one minor drawback to me is the ad in the upper right corner, but this is only because I'm using 800x600 here at work. I won't be bothered with this at home, I guess.
A big thumbs up for Opera.

Many seem to use same skin, 'Bomb Volter' I think.
Eli: you press the right mouse button and drag back to go to previouse page. Great once you get used to it (fast!)
My screenshot. I usually dont use the silly moo style, but I am experimenting

This is absolutely brilliant!
Though I keep playing with it and closing important pages all the time.
Edit : From where do you get the skins?

very much worth it. although it's a hassle to upgrade from opera6 to opera7, opera7 itself works like a dream. it's lightweight, fast, and the mouse gestures are beautiful.
you'll probably lose a few bookmarks if you try to do a straight upgrade. so you ought to export them if you're going to do that.
the only thing that opera lacks is a way of exporting bookmarks into a format that mozilla or ie will accept.

Opera
Consider me an IE to Opera convert. Once I got rid of all the crap cluttering up the screen, it's awesome.

Opera is definitely the best IMHO.
I have to use IE at work and it's driving me nuts. I want to open a link in a new window my doing "rightclick+down-up" dammit!
I need to customise my Opera 7 at home, though, it's still got a bit too much of that clutter Ixnay mentioned. Once I can be bothered to sit down and optimise the UI for my needs it'll be even better.

I really like it and you can turn off the half million pop-up ads you get from Apolyton.

One annoying thing: the animated smilies don't work well... some of them are in slow-motion and other do not animate at all...

Like I said in the other thread, scrolling past animated gifs and then scrolling back to them seems to get them to animate properly.

Move it in what way exactly?
You can set if you want it on the left, on the right, or "floating".
Right-click at the bottom of the Hotlist, and set the position.
